At BlizzCon 2011, the Diablo III Gameplay panel included this video from 3D Artist Kevin K. Griffith, Environment Artist Nate Bowden, Senior Artist Nick Eberle, and 3D Artist Richie Marella. In the video, they try to answer the question: "How hard is this game going to be in Nightmare difficulty (and above)?"

Honestly, people keep talking shit, but Blizzard really turned around Diablo 3... I mean, you wouldn't believe how much shit D3 got from the public before RoS, now it's just people bitching about nothing... RoS is one of the most influential expansion packs to any game I have ever played. I mean the difference between pre-RoS and RoS is night and day. D3 is now an incredibly amazing game. Yes, it goes farther from D2 than it originally was, but that's okay. D3 is definitely a much better game than it was in 2012.

@chiefkill11 I was referring to the Dark Souls taglines, not literally being quizzical as to if this was Dark Souls, or not.

Please return the difficulty of Torment 6 to the pre-nerf Inferno.

Inferno: each additional player increases monster health by 115%, each additional player increases monster damage by 15%, each additional player increases the number of monsters. In order to actually progress through inferno with 4 players, you have to be coordinated, and you have to space cc, crowd controls, and other abilities to make up for the extreme disadvantage you are at.

I'm pumped.

This is the best news ive read in a while, I played some Diablo 2 with a friend of mine a few weeks ago. We died several times and we were scared as hell walking into any boss room, and it was so much fun. If it was easy it would just be boring.

it's so true. What he said about "when you go to fight your first herd of unique monsters, you will die"

that brings back memories. back in Diablo II, that's what happened to me.

@Kavilut89 That shirt is the design mantra for Diablo 3, they removed the grittiness to add rainbows and unicorns.

i suppose you make a very valid point, friend. perhaps the problem i have with the difficulty change in diablo 3 is not the fact that the mobs just hit harder as difficulty rises, but just that blizzard decided the way to battle the traditional left click right click dungeon smasher is to add a skill bar.

most of my disappointment came from watching the lineage eternal clip, which demonstrated that there could be so much flexibility with skills in dungeon smashers, too

@magecu As long as it's just a semantic discussion, I'm not too worried. I suppose "farming" was used a colloquially to hint at the difficulty (or lack of), not to suggest the game is somehow more trivial and monotone at that stage than the other stages.

At any rate, the official title is Normal.

The only thing that died was everyone's hopes and dreams for Diablo III.

@CaddyDon10 Not really. I explicitly didn't say anything about the me thinking the game IS too easy (or not as hard) or WILL be as such. I just said I accept their hyped-up challenge... not surprising they present it in this way since these guys were little adolescents like myself when the first game came out.

@Alashify I don't mind an easy difficulty option. I welcome it whole heartedly.
The more people can enjoy the game the better. Also I welcome a wide spectrum of difficulties, from ones that I would find boring, to such that I would never be able to survive on them. What I found disturbing was the mention of a "farming level". The word farming gives me the impression that players need to spend hours, well, farming in that level to support the type of play they enjoy.

@olfan92 I'm not assuming anything. That's just what Mike Morhaime (president of blizzard) said.

Diablo 3 will be out by June 30, 2012

Why not familiar with sparkflint instead of magic weapon with force weapon? And what do you do for arcane power? I'd add Astral Presence or Power Hungry instead of arcane dynamo.

Agreed. I'm not saying they shouldn't do all that stuff but, monsters with higher dps and hitpoint is the main tool to increase the difficulty. Besides, the monsters we're dealing with at beta are just zombies. I'm pretty sure there will be different (and obviously faster) kind of enemies to kill.

What really needs to be criticised is not the difficulty, but lack of modding support. We could always throw in a few mods to tweak the difficulty if they hadn't cut off the modding support.

I cleared inferno launch month and then quit the game when the big nerf patch dropped. Was one of the best month's of my gaming life. I wish I could play Launch diablo 3 offline. Why you may ask, because I will never be able to play that same difficulty with other classes. People who suck stole that experience from me with complaints that lead to the nerf bat to end all other nerf bats.

With fast missiles. While I can agree that agile and swift mobs will still be a problem, the slowing field of the Wizard is just OP

I like how Demon and Dark Souls have helped bring attention to the fact that most modern games are just piss easy and that feel of victory after killing a boss isn't there if you can just blast through it. Bring on a real challenge.

I started playing Diablo II when I was 12 years old, enjoying that fantasy world.
When it came out the Expansion set I was Uber(LOL)enthusiast, I used to spend so many hours on battle.net...when I was able to accomplish all the quests and levels, I started hoping for the release of Diablo III...since that day I have to say that I almost completed my University path...Blizzard, for God's love, RELEASE THAT GAME!!!
