I took it online and you have not just helped me pass college algebra, but excel at it!!! It's been 30 years since my last algebra class and at the beginning of the semester, I couldn't even remember fractions! Now, I'm going into my final exam with a 107 average. Thank you!!!!

Great video! This may be a test, but it is also very clear instruction. Most of his problems involve one mathematical principle, which is fairly easy to figure out, if you have experience with it. 6:05 a^2 - b^2 = (a +b)*(a-b). Read "^" as "to the". He is very careful to explain how the principle is used in the solution. He avoids using "shortcut language" beloved by bad teachers. "The square root of 28 is the square root of 4*7. You pull the 2 out of the root and you are left with 2*square root(7)." There is no such principle as "pulling out". Does pulling out work the same for cube roots? How about negative numbers in cube roots? If you can "pull out" the -1 in a square root, why not a cube root? The "shortcut language" answer may be correct, but the actual math you are applying is unknown. Again, he avoids "shortcut language". If you didn't know the mathematical principle used, you can learn from the answer. Most test problems intentionally hide the principle to be used in order to sort out the A students from the rest. Not really a test of mathematical knowledge. More a test of puzzle solving. The scientific method is roughly: observation, classification, hypothesis and testing. Figuring out the relevant mathematical principle is an exercise in classification. You classify into a category. His last problem is of this type. He very clearly explains how to use what you know and that leads to the correct classification (category) of mathematical principles. If you fail a question, but are given the answer, make sure you know what classification of mathematical principles were used in getting it. This will help a great deal the next time you face a similar question.

I have a math exam in 3 days. I’m not sure when it’ll be graded but I just need to pass. I hope everyone who’s struggling with math gains some knowledge from this video. I’ll update after the exam! Wish me luck :)

Edit: I passed!!

I’m so proud of myself for understanding all of this. I didn’t think I could remember what I was taught but I’m doing a pretty good job.

This really helped me feel better about my final tomorrow. I didn’t learn much this year and this basically showed me that I could do this material and helped me review so I didn’t worry. Even a year later this helps. Thank you.

This will help me a lot. I am in High School, and I am taking the Algebra 1 Final Exam in June. This will 100% help me to get ready.

Dang, I felt stupid because I’m currently having math instead of algebra in 8th grade, but after I saw this video I just realized I still understand most of it... LoL
