The video didn't seem to actually discuss the title topic.

How can people mistake Sasha's laid-back and more subtle personality for anger or impatience? I mean you guys have made videos of him before, it's obvious he's just a calm and collected person. Great video as always.

This is not the Sasha I normally watch on the internet ;)

We get the advantage of a two-piece but the Floating vs Fixed isn't very clear.

Sasha reminds me of Riff Raff from Rocky Horror Picture Show: slightly detached, slightly bored, above the normal fray of the common gear heads. He knows everything, knows others don't, and isn't interested in correcting this disparity, like an eager lap dog others act like.

Bit of somewhat misinformation here. The Belleville washers are just to keep if from rattling in street use. Even with them turned the other way around (i.e., to where they are applying spring tension on the fastener), there is still axial float but with the in the "anti-rattle" orientation, pad knock-back can still occur since the force to compress the washer more is greater then the force to knock the pad / piston(s) back in the caliper a few thou..

Along with that, there was no mention of the radial float function of the setup. The holes in the rotor's are actually radial slots (not perfectly drilled holes like in the hat). This is specifically for thermal expansion in a radial direction to prevent belling of the assemble like 1pc (and bolted 2pc) rotors do.

awesome brakes! I have them on my Z! thanks for the video!

I got these " floating" rotors from Triton Motorsports and they have regular bolts, not even washers. Looks like an impact wrench mark on the hat too. Is that bad?

I would think that the noise from a 2 piece rotor cooling would be caused by the dissimilar metals shrinking at different rates as they cool and moving against each other.

some more technical talk please.  venting non-directional vs directional. slotted vs blank vs drilled.  differences in floating.  importance of bedding in rotors.  maybe even some brake fluid talk.  braking cooling ducts.  taking brake temps.  list can go on and on.  no shortage of content to talk about.

What's the best way to bed in pads/rotors on a non-street car? Couple slow laps around the track?

Which threadlocker should one use on the bolts?

I have a stoptech trophy big brake kit i haven't put on yet. It came with floating rotors. Since I still street drive my car can I convert them to a fixed setup just by installing the hardware upside down to what you guys did here? Its the exact same part numbers basically for the pins? Thanks

do the hats have to be he mentioned there is a hammering effect on them.

i always thought they had some sort of spring in there not that washer. well you learn something everyday.

I'd love to see one instance where a floating rotor outperformed a fixed one. Maybe, once while the braking system wasn't applied.

It looked like Sasha needed to get some Speed at the Academy
