The 144000 is not about the number. It's about the meaning. It contains the meaning of the words "truth is inside", "origin", "time" and "eternity". So the meaning of the number 144000 is, that everyone who knows the truth inside the heard, his origin is from God and he will return to live in eternity.

It's only few people that will return now, at the end times. Because sinners won't reach kingdom of heaven, and though people don't want to accept it, because they think, that Jesus died for our sins, so it is clearly written, beginning from what Jesus said in the Gospel, through the New Testament, till the very end of the book of revelation, that no sinner will go to the kingdom of heaven, because people who don't treat others right, will not be saved. And if you knew what God would expect from people, it's so clear, that you can see daily, that almost noone does the Will of God, because people are selfish, superficial, cold, running after money, not loyal, not honest etc. etc. and all those will not be saved, and unfortunately it's almost the entire world. Also of course, all other religions are for nothing. Because they don't believe in the true God, but serve the devil. and that includes most christians too. Amen.
