I upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro Max last year. I don't see a strong reason why I would upgrade for some "minor" updates. Major updates would be a bigger sensor, and support Apple Log+HEVC in the native camera app. Less over-sharpening would be great too.

The only thing I can think of is not upgrading until you really need the feature(s), or just wait until 3-4 new models have come out before upgrading. I'm still on the 12 Pro Max. I'll upgrade next year maybe. But I'm happy at the moment. I use the iPhone as a second camera and use a Sony FX30 for serious shooting. But I like iPhone shooting and one can do some good work under the right environments.

I'm at a 13 Pro, If i get the 16 Pro I get 3 NEW cameras (2 higher quality) with an EXTRA fake 2x, PLUS anti reflective coating on the lenses. I get dynamic island, I get USB C with super speed transfer speeds, I get 4k 120fps, I get a massively brighter screen that's actually bigger with smaller bezzles. I get Apple Intelegence, I get a camera control button, I get hyper photographic styles that keep skin tones, I get a stronger glass, I get better performance and battery life with less degradation. (don't really care for action mode since i have an osmo mobile 6) I get better shutter speeds, I get ProRAW and ProResHDR with LOG. Yeah for people with a 13 pro, definitely a worthy upgrade!

honestly, the upgrades could have been just a software update. 4k120 pro res could have been with the iPhone 15 Promax and so is the AI. nothing really special, just people paying for software updates now.

I like to travel with as little as possible so I am upgrading for the new microphones, wide angle, 4k 120, the USB-C, and I went 1tb this time. So all I need to take with me on my trips for vlogging is my gimbal and iPhone, I can keep them in my front pockets and not need to carry a bag on trips.

I will be upgrading from my 14 pro Max and I definitely like the sound of the background noise cancellation feature because I really hate just how bad the background noise can be in some of my videos so I’m hoping that will be a thing of the past with the 16 pro Max and also the improvements to the cameras.

Appreciate the candid commentary on this new phone. I was waiting on this one and like you hoping for a larger sensor for better low light. That's always been my biggest wish for video shooting with these phones. So I will hold off on this one. Again, thank you. This video helped me make up my mind.

I still don't understand why Apple wont' let us natively adjust shutter speed when shooting video. If I can't shoot 24fps 1/48 shutter speed it's of no use to me in a professional environment.

OMG my wife was watching. The marketing hype was making me iill. I wanted a phone video -- enter Content Creators. Seriously, this is the video I wanted. Excited for in frame. I have dreamed of that feature. No more background voices in restaurants.

What I'd really like to see is 10 bit 422 HEVC Log. ProRes Log may be nice but it's a big file to move off the phone in any quantity and, in any quantity, pushes you to use an external SSD. I'd really like to see if they can further improve cinematic mode to better "fake" depth of field which sometimes has obvious subject edge issues.

I have an iPhone 14 Pro and have mixed feelings about the upgrade. Of course, the longer I wait the less trade-in value I get for that, keeping in mind that the move from 14 pro to 16 pro isn't that expensive with the trade-in.

Perhaps the most interesting is for doc work the audio modes mean I can get decent sound quickly when I can't mic the subject and the camera button allows for faster access to the camera. Both of which aren't critical when I'm doing planned shots though.

Hey Anthony, I’ll be upgrading from the 13 pro max. I like the background noise cancellation feature. Sometimes I record in engineering labs with huge air blowers. I can only filter out so much. Once I had to ditch it and record in another space.
