This animation shows diaphragm motions and acoustic pressure waves forming and propagating in water (25°C) for up to 0.23 µs, driven simultaneously by a bipolar peak-to-peak 3 Vpp, 37.6 MHz single cycle sine wave. The research is described in Design and Ultrasonic Characterization of a Thin-Film, Flexible PMUT Array, by Jeong Nyeon Kim et al, The Pennsylvania State University, as published in the November/December 2020 issue of Advanced Materials & Processes magazine.
