When a police officer in Michigan pulled over a car for speeding, he found he had a different situation on his hands -- an upset senior citizen who shared his problems. “My wife’s real sick,” the man told an officer from the Sterling Heights PD. “I bought a television today because I want to make my wife happy, and I can’t get it hooked up,” he continued. The officer offered to come by the family’s house to help. An hour later, he and two colleagues came by to set up the new device. #news

This made me smile honestly, that poor old man trying to fight off tears just to make his wife happy is wholesome. And the police helping them is heartwarming and reassuring because those cops care.

The man’s voice sounded so sad when he was explaining about his wife. I hope she’s gonna be okay, they’re at the age where they don’t need any stress. 🥺

According to stats: seniors have the highest rates of suicide compared to other age groups. There is nothing pleasant, or glamorous about getting old. We younger people need to have a heart for our elders and show them care and concern. Our societal culture promotes selfeshness and expedience, which isn't good for anyone, let alone our vulnerable elders.

Kindness is key. Not only did the officer show up, he brought along two more officers to help.

There’s a old woman that lives in my apartment who was going around knocking on people’s doors needing help setting up her phone. I could tell she was embarrassed to ask for help. I went over and helped her set it all up. She didn’t know you had to put batteries in the back. After we got it all set up she was so grateful and we started talking about life. Her husband had died a decade or so ago and she’d been living in that apartment for over 20 years. I learned she was a dancer in Chicago and worked as a playboy bunny in one of the gentleman’s clubs there. She’s met a lot of the great singers and performs. Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope etc. She’d traveled the world and continually said what an amazing life she had lived. Fascinating woman and it was so
awesome to have heard her life story

Sometimes it's help with the little things in life that can have a huge impact.

"Help" means so much more than just "emergency", it's an appeal to our humanity.

The old guy was lucky to find a kind and helping person to help him for free with the TV setup. If he hired a cable guy to do TV setup with just only a few minutes of work. It would've probably cost him $100 or maybe $200 if its a rush job.
