Fantastic video mate! This has really helped me understand why the plug lead set I got didnt seem right for my gen 2 1uz.
It was like the left coil lead was not long enough!! Now I know why. 👍👍

Very helpful video. Wondered if you could help me, on the 3uz how does the ECU control the igniton. Is it a constant 5v supply to the coils, then a ground trigger from the ECU to send the pulses? Or is it more involved than that? I'm currently messing designing a board to mess about with the ignition and it would help me a lot to know how the coils are triggered and what each pin does. Played with many ignition systems but never a 3uz and information is sparse! Cheers mate.

The late model COP matches perfect to the non VVTI UZ. Just need to cut off the bracket for the bolt. I made 3D printed brackets, that press them down in pairs and use the standard bolt holes in the valve covers. But defenitely needs an standalone ECU.

Hello sir. Do you have the wiring colors for the coil plugs for the 3uz plugs on 1uz? Im worried the person who made my harrness for my swap possibly didnt do it correctly. Im gmbot gettinf ig pulse or fuel pump turn on. Basically no start.

Hi Kelvin, can you confirm what the resistance should be for the ignitions coils on a Gen2 1UZFE? I am experiencing issues with rough idle and suspect one of my coils might be shot. Regards, Clint.

Good evening, so I can use a 1uz coil in my 3uz without problems, wouldn't the 3uz ecu suffer any damage with the 1uz coils? thanks in advance... greetings from the Dominican Republic

Kelvin do you replace the coils with OEM Toyota or are the aftermarket ones ok ? Thinking I should replace these while I'm at it.
