So basically, Blizzard did the Le Sserafim collab to give us a good counter team to Mauga before introducing him.

Maybe I'm crazy, but giving a 600+hp tank life steal seems like a bad idea

Mauga feels like power creep compressed. Rein charge can be interrupted, Mauga not. Hog can heal or shoot, Mauga heals by shooting. Mauga ult vs Zarya grav is like double size, double duration, shield around that prevents enemies from helping and infinite ammo.

Havent watched yet, but Mauga feels incredibly feast or famine. He either dominates and never dies or he gets nothing and falls over. Almost like an Orisa situation where hes unkillable with supports alive, and does nothing without them

The only fun part of fighting mauga as roadhog is waiting for him to use his ult and popping whole hog to instantly melt him

So I've played Mauga a couple times and kind of gotten how his kit works. He is an Anti Brawler/Brawler. VERY strong against brawl characters since they usually don't have much mobility and they have huge hitboxes. Mauga's greatest weakness are characters with higher mobility and small hitboxes. Even though I was 41/3 in a lobby, 3 of those deaths came from the Kiri who literally 1v1'd me in my Domain Expansion while having Cardiac active and a similar game happened where a Tracer was just dogging my team and Mauga cant do anything about it. They has such a small hitbox that Mauga's spread works against him. I don't recommend Bastion whatsoever because he has such a massive hitbox where Mauga can easily take him down with 100% accuracy. The best comp I see against him is D.Va, Sombra, Tracer, Kiri, and Ana. Discord orb has it's uses but Zen can get easily killed by Mauga. You need to prevent him from doing damage. If he doesn't have a consistent source of damage then he won't be able to heal himself. Small hitboxes and Matrix when he has Overdrive up is his hard counter.

I've noticed mei is good against him since she's great at separating teams with her wall. Most Maugas I've fought have a hard time surviving the 5v1, especially if you also have ana, zen, reap, or bash like said in the video.

Honestly surprised you didnt mention the greatest things to use against him, which is somthing like a Junker queen and Sombra. JQ is a much harder target for Mauga to continuously hit, and Sombra can quite literally ult whenever he does, and erase it. Throw an anna into the mix and that is two seperate ways to anti him, alongside Sombra constantly hacking and taking away his shout

A nice combo to counter Mauga is Ana's sleep dart immediately followed by Bastion's chaingun. It was very effective.

I find Ana works really well and a tank that can eat up his damage and put him in his place really just a turn and burn type strat is what counters him, not really sure but I've played echo in a poke playstyle and it's worked ok ish it might have been luck tho

What makes Mauga strong is the fact that my team is going Sym, Echo, Mercy, Moira.

I had a game where I was playing Sigma against Maui. I would just shield, rock throw, poke, and then kinetic grasp him while my team hits the backline every time. They could not capture objective.

Lines up with what I see as a dva main; either burn with reaper while dumping dm on him, to eat heals, or go dive, but with wider pathing and set up the dive further away and in cover. because of no support abilities like bubble, the dive will succeed, and a deeper dive is less risky. covering a target with dm, trying to eat suzu, is the main goal. LW makes it a little harder, so I like to bait pull first. Suzu is thrown at the ground, further away, so its good to aim dm leaning towards where kiri is. Mauga is very poke-y, with fire, and forces more strict prefight pathing.

But what about no limits? What if the whole team is mauga? Is there a counter to that? Every time I see that character, the boss starts playing if there’s five of them not fun

The junkers are also effective against Mauga if you play right. Roadhog has high health and can heal himself, Junker Queen can give him debuffs that drain his health and can heal herself, and Junkrat's explosives are effective to drain his health quickly as well as trap him.
