Same I'm also from Thailand and we were talking about the bombing of Pearl harbor and some kids in my class looked at me and said "tell your people not to do that again" but I told them I was Thai not Japanese but they thought that it was all the same so I said out loud "If we did it once we will surely do it again"

I once told an Uber driver that I was from Taiwan and he said "oh I love Thai food" 😂

Stop because there was a new girl from china that went in my class(it was a class where everyone was learning Chinese)and she didn't speak my language well. So my teacher wanted her to talk with a chinese to feel less lonely. She called literally every asian kid in my class, vietnamese, japanese, Korean. And personally, when she called me she was like
-"so i'm considering sitting you next to yuxian (if i remember correctly that was her name), and i was like :
-"okay but i won't be able to talk to her that well"
- "aren't you chinese"
-" No"
- "but your asian "
-"yeah but i'm not chinese"
-"well you look Chinese "
And that is the day are realized that teachers can be f-ing stupid. Turned out she did that for all the asian kids. I was in 10th grade. Imagine being a 10th grade teacher and not know that there are more countries in asia than china. Honestly, I'm still a little mad about it to this day.

This is so relatable I was the only Chinese kid in my school and people would do this ALL THE TIME and say things like “hey read this” and show me a sentence in Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, or any language in Asia and I don’t even know how to read Chinese I only can speak and understand it.

Kids at my school don’t know geography so when they found out that Philippines was an Asian country and they knew I was Filipino, they started to ask if I spoke Chinese 🤦🏽‍♀️

Someone also said to me that ‘You’re not Asian, you Filipino.’ 😀

I'm a Filipino girl and people believing the stereotype about Asians being extremely smart is quite common in my school. I just like to participate in school. I'm one of a few Asians, and one time, when I was writing out my answer on the whiteboard, someone yelled "CHING CHONG EGG ROLL, " at me. I couldn't see the person because they said it while I was writing but I was about to beat their ass. But my friend consoled me and I calmed down.

One time in class we where talking about history and one part was related to Korea. Then my teacher went to the girl “Hey how’s Korea?” And then she said “I’m Chinese”

The school gave me a locker beside all the Korean kids' lockers. Then called me down to tell me where it was. The teacher jokingly told me I'd have an easier time making friends with my locker mates.
I told them I'm not Korean and they hit me with the "oh, are you sure?"

Uhhhh, am I sure? Really?
