Oh, I forgot to mention, that Galadriel also created fog one time to hide Eorl and his men from the eyes of Dol Guldur ^^ Potentially that had to do with her Ring as well.

I had not heard that the earliest rings, those made while the Elves were learning from Annatar, were also considered Rings of Power. I've often wondered what they were capable of.

I'm not sure if Tolkien actually wrote this at some point but my understanding is that only the Elves wearing the Three detected Sauron when Sauron first used the One Ring. They then warned the wearers of the 16 to take them off.

The Dwarves could not be reduced to shadows. Clearly that means they could not become wraiths, but does it also mean they could not become invisible by wearing a Ring of Power?

it is said that the one ring has its own will as it's part of sauron's being...but if it has its own will, that means it must be conscious in some sense
If we wanted to describe it in the modern technical terms maybe some kind of algorithm...my question is, are we dealing with AI in case of the one ring? Capable of growing/learning? Or would it always make the same choice in the "laboratory" setting should the circumstances allow it?
Or am I just dumb asking this pseudointellectual question?

The One Ring acess a evil energy called Morgoth's Ingredient. It's the Melkor's essence in physical matter of Arda. That's is how Sauron could control Orcs, Trolls, Wargs; and corrupt the Nazgûl and Men. And the master ring "buffs" the owner abilities (Sauron could control the weather, earthquakes, diseases, a Volcano).

Where does the "extra power" in the One Ring come from? I thibkbit came from the evil that Morgoth seeded into Arda at the creation of Arda. Somehow, Sauron figured out how to channel that power into Rings of Power.

Where do you folks think that extra power comes from?

The series is fanfiction. I think to stop the wear and tear of time and maintain the beauty of the elven real.s and like Gandalfs ring to inspire courage in those who are around him is enough. I think all elven ring bearers had the capacity the ring enforces allready before. Elrond was a great wise healer and lore master, Gandalf a courageous and compassionate Maiar and Galadriel the wise, clarvoyant, and
generous Lady of the light.
