What nobody would tell you about the (refurbished) Ecoflow Delta 1300

This is a refurbished unit from Ecoflow. It is quite cheap and what a deal I got! But how good is a refurbished unit and is it worth the money? I'm also going to show you something you should know if you own this unit already or if you're thinking about purchasing this unit in a near future. Let's find out!

Nice review, a couple of notes though.
1. In your capacity test you stopped at 5%, but you should have run it to 0% because the meters are not always entirely accurate.
2. With the external battery you can absolutely output a full 1800 W, even though the DC input is far less because the Inverter is running off the battery, not the input.
3. In your solar charging time remaining test, Yes, that meter is notoriously inaccurate but just because the controller shows input doesn't mean the BMS battery management unit is dumping that entire load into the battery. It's a pretty good BMS, it keeps track of the state of charge of the battery and there's no danger of it being fried because you left it plugged into solar panels really. The original Delta 1300 has been out for four years and nobody's had a problem with that.
4. There is nothing wrong with charging these batteries to 100%. For one thing, there is some battery reserve you can't see. But even top-of-the-line battery manufacturer Battleborn states there's nothing wrong with charging a lithium ion battery 0% to 100% and there is no memory effect.
And for an occasional user, say someone who cycles it once a week 52 times a year, it will take over 15 years to reduce the capacity by 20% (800 cycles to 80%) and you will still have 80% capacity, so calendar aging will obsolete this device before battery cycling does.
Now for daily cycling, it is better to buy a LFP lifepo4 battery unit which has 3500 cycles to 80%.
But with these NCM units limiting charging 10% to 90% means you're sacrificing 20% of your capacity today, to save that same capacity in 15 years. It really doesn't make sense. It's better just to use it today. It's a great bang for your buck for the occasional user and look how much the prices come down in the last four years.
But the idea that you have to sit there and monitor the solar input is overkill really. The BMS is smarter than you are and this is a peace of mind product, you don't have to baby it.

Great deal. I had reached out to them right after the promotion ended and they were able to price match. Ended up getting one in new condition for 458 w/ tax.

CS rep informed me that they guarantee their units have atleast 95% battery health on their refurbished items

It was out of calibration as it balances the cells in the final stage of charging. I bet if you charged it up again it won't take that long. It's usually around 10-15min while displaying 100% before it's done on AC and even longer on solar. The screen is an estimate and the efficiency depending on the rate of charge can be below 80% and is well documented.

Another Killa vid mate.
Two thumb up from me on how informative that review was on a refurbished unite with pro and con. The extent of your passion to mod it to next level is amazing. U r my new hero mate. GOING to work on Monday and shall spread your channel to whole Canningvale Markets here in Auz.
Only just come across your channel today because I needed some info to install speed controller for my E bike. Which i did but 6 hours later still watching. Fair effort mate.
Love this stuff.

Great video, I have been looking at the power bank, glad to see you tested exactly what I was concerned about. Thanks Joe

Thanks for the insight and for giving people a new, recent space to collect thoughts on refurbished products.

Good review. One thing i would point out is that if you get their app you can set it to when do you want battery to stop charging. I set it to 90% if it's plugged in to solar. I had my river pro for over a year now and so far i am pretty happy with the company. I wish they expended the app so it had more customization but it's still good

I bought One New from Amazon on Black Friday with 5 year Warranty and 160 Watt Portable Eco Flow Solar Panel $705.00 and a refurbished Unit for $523.11 off Ebay with 2 Year Warranty and a refurbished Eco Flow 160 Watt Portable Solar Panel plus an Additional 110 Watt Panel and 2 year warranty as well and later a River Pro 2 for $250.00 off Ebay with a 5 year warranty and Bluetooth and App included. Very Happy with All 6 Items. And less than $0.50 Cents a Watt across the board.

Man this gives me some insight,

I grabbed a power station on Amazon that was 2000 ish watt hour, but the display is just horribly violently inaccurate

I have an in line meter showing the watts from my solar, and the watts it’s displaying is roughly 10 above the actual input

Also the battery gauge is horribly far off from real life, says shit like 100% for up to 2 days of around 380WH

The MPPT controller it uses seems to get absolutely ripping hot on the inside before the fans kick in

And the worst part, the DC jack for regulated 6S lithium ion charging at 7.3 amp

That thing if I rest the back of my fingers on it, it’ll arc the hair and give me a zap!!

It was 1600 dollars with 250 off, for over 2000WH, which sounds good but keep in mind it’s lithium Ion not LiFePO4

All in all though, seeing that these things often have innacuracies in their displays calms me down

Especially since I know the BMS kicks in and stops the charge, but I also know I probably shouldn’t take it for granted too much

Itsxa 3 year old design when you tested it. All of EF second generation units are top of the line.

when you plug in the external nissan leaf battery, does it handle low voltage cut-off? will the ecoflow drain the external battery completely dead and ruin the battery?

Hi first comment because of you im opening electric scooter now 😂

I wish I could send you my battery to test. I got a smaller eco flow and it has a wonky AC output. When I plug in lights they have a tiny flash every couple of seconds. Wonder what's causing it

Do you remember seeing one of tjese battery banks that can accept 95v PV input? I have a TON of solar, but it's all high voltage.

Connect it to an inductive load and then show us the waveform. Thanks

Is the 12v output on the back regulated? If not you can see how much solar overcharges the battery.

would you be able to charge the ecoflow delta as well as the external battery with the delta wall charger?

Were they running a promo? All I see currently is $599. Did they send you a discount and a coupon?
