12:56 This is why I find it so sad that in many American schools, at least when I was in them 7 years ago, actively discouraged people from going to Wikipedia for information because "anyone can edit it and say whatever they want." Instead of asking people to check the sources on Wikipedia, they recommended avoiding it entirely, which often led to people going to these random baseless articles on a click bait news sites for their information. Students would then cite these articles, teachers would approve them, and suddenly it's emphasized throughout the school system that these articles are factual and reliable.

Also, the “pitch black” planets often have an equilibrium temperature that’s high enough to glow in optical light

Between the AI top 10 fact channels, and the hyper detail oriented science channels, your videos fall into a perfect in-between that presents well researched, up to date info without being overwhelmingly technical. Before coming across your videos I have to admit I just took all those random "fact" channels at face value without further research. Turns out most of them were completely wrong. Thanks for being such a great resource for knowing what's actually going on in astronomy, it's surprisingly hard to find videos like this. Keep up the good work.

The reason i didnt believe in the J1407b myth is an easy one.

Its "rings" are to big in contrast to its "planet" the outer rings would 100% either float away into the vastness of space, or would hurl themselves into their "star" or other planets.

The real J1407b was the friends we've made along the way

Ngl i'm so glad there's a channel about debunking fake or misunderstood space information. Even tho it's not my area of content, i wanted to make a vid about TON 618 myself after hearing countless people in Youtube comments say that it's bigger than the Milky Way, which is nonsense. The diameter is only 1300 AU and only *the enormous Lyman-alpha nebula surrounding it has the diameter of at least 100 kiloparsecs (330, 000 light-years), twice the size of the Milky Way.* Huge difference.

Hey man, I recently discovered your channel through the 'There are no habitable exoplanets' video and I would just like to say you are one of the best and most factual content creators on the site and I really appreciate the work you do to provide misinformation free videos about this topic. Subscribed with notifs on! looking forward to what you do next

Seriously good video, as usual, Kyplanet doesn’t disappoint. One video I would like to see is a video about Exoplanets potentially habitable for life as we don’t know it. A solar system example would be Titan which could host exotic hydrocarbon based life. It’s something not talked about often outside of AI clickbait channels and some articles about Titsn so would be nice if you talked about it or at least mentioned it in another video :))

Finally someone talking about the "pitch-black" planets, almost no one mentioned it

People are just too obsessed with the idea of Star Trek aliens. We are not going to find some human-like guys, the most likely thing to find will be microbes. Best case scenario you might find an alien squirrel. There's plenty of life on this Earth that you can talk to, no reason to wait for aliens.
