POLITICAL CORRECTNESS - Teal Swan

Political correctness… language, actions, or policies intended and designed specifically not to offend or disadvantage any particular group of people in society. In today’s world, speaking can be a bit like walking on broken glass. Political correctness is determined for you by the social group you interact with and grow up around. And you can bet different social groups do not agree on what is and isn’t politically incorrect. In this episode, Teal provocatively claims that we should do away with political correctness and stand for authenticity instead.

To all who found this offensive, I would just like to say, I think the point is not to be openly bigoted or impolite, but to be honest about our prejudices so that we can actually learn from one another and have one another's prejudices disproven. The point is to have open dialogue, not to just be horrible to people.

"It offends me as a Spiritual Teacher to live in a world where so many people would rather be told a direct lie than something that is politically incorrect"... You nailed it, sister.

I personally don't have any problem speaking authentically to the people in my life. I do think it's good to be mindful of our intentions though. Is our intention to be authentic? Or is our intention to hurt the other? To be the center of attention? To project a 'shocking' persona?

I agree completely, the world needs truth.

Politicaly correctness is a form of control and gaslighting. I've had a commment removed from a group as my opinion was offending the church but that particular post was about a form of abuse from the church, it was yelling that fact. Why is it offensive to verbalize a fact? To say it as it is? Even if it was only my oppinion. Why are we in discussion groups, not to express how we think and feel with eachother? We show abuse but don't talk about it, just romanticise it, sugarcoating it. Beacause truth is offensive. Thank you Teal. It's even worse now than 5 years ago when you posted this.

your videos are medicine to my soul. this video made me cry so much for no specific reason. hearing her calm happy positive voice speaking about something that bothers me so much it is so relaxing and calming. I felt that i have so much darkness and sadness in me in the last few months. I was always saying my opinion on different topics when talking in different groups and people keep on saying that I have to calm down and that I am too aggressive and I don't have to be so direct because by that I can't change people. and I am like seriously ?? I don't want to sugar coat my thoughts and words for you. I am very open minded person, I went vegan over night after having only meat, eggs and milk in my fridge. the next day it was full of veggies, soya and all kinds of goodies. why ? because if you explain to me in any way you want ( aggressive or calm) and it will have a logical shocking explanation I will be changed in 180 degrees. it is so tiring to be fake in order to get accepted . thanks to you from today I will be free

Came across this in 2022 and it's amazing how prescient it was. Now more than ever, people seem afraid to express even obvious, majority-held beliefs in public out of fear of cancellation.

well . I shared this a came out with my ignorance and was shamed naturally..I didnt really respond bc I didnt feel like I needed to defend the topic or Teal.. I could perceive it as an attempt to attack but I just left it alone..so as to not allow momentum to grow by grabbing ahold of the story..I used it as a guide to where my vibration is ..an it looks like that when I felt my own resistance, that was activated in my vibration..I'm growing and becoming more unshakable each day ..I know that it is in me to be unflinchingly authentic I wont stop. I cant stop. thank you for being you and putting light on the shadows.

How is it, that if I speak my truth about one individual who happens to be black, gay, transgendered, bi or male,  that all of those who identify with these groups take offense?  Are all of these groups of people righteous, untouchable and beyond reproach?

I'd like to start by saying I'm starting to hate the phrase "politically correct" because I hardly know what it means anymore. Where is the line between being PC and being polite? I'm not going to start saying, "I won't remember your name because I am not even mildly interested in meeting you, " when I shake someone's hand, regardless of the fact that I may be thinking it. And that be more on the subject of brutality vs authenticity. But again, where's the line? Only when we're discussing race, religion, etc.?
I love what you said about how being super politically correct is more about trying to protect your own image. Because that has been very true for me.
My only problem with dismissing this "movement, " if you can call it that, is I think it's important to challenge stereotypes! Of course we're going to have them. But lots of times, people refuse to challenge their stereotypes, and as a result, separate themselves from MASSIVE GROUPS of people. That's why I can't just dismiss it.

Another great video. Thank you and keep up the good work.

I tend to not be real popular due to my total dislike of political correctness. I don't (usually) offend someone on purpose, but I do state my real feelings in conversations. I also reserve the right to change my views on things. What I believed 20 years ago are not what I believe today, for the most part.
I'd much rather be truthful (especially with myself) than make someone feel good or bad. Like an old drug/alcohol counselor friend used to say: I what I say offends you, maybe you just need a good offending. You should take a look at that."

Can't believe how many low-vibrational people popped out under this inspiring video. Wake up people! Political correctness is nothing but dishonesty & lying to yourself in the first place. If you have voices in your head telling you to say "politically incorrect" stuff with a bitter taste (according to your very own point of view), dive deep inside your heart and LEARN why you feel that way! LEARN tolerance, LEARN open-mindedness, LEARN love because you obviously are still closed as F and have no real clue what that means. I am proud to be politically incorrect, because through that I can show others that PC in fact supports continuous segregation in our society. We are all hoomanz and are meant to respect & love one another, no matter what "words" we use to describe each other. Stop the HATRED! Say whatever you like with an open mind & love in your heart.

YOU RULE!! I sometimes feel trapped by how difficult it can be to tell the truth, even in the smallest matters, but now I have more motivation to keep being honest, even if it leaves holes in the ground behind me. Thank you!

Wow that is a brave and strong thing to say and suggest.  The problem I've noticed is that a lot of people will here someone else say something that they don't agree with, get offended or ticked off and think that everyone else around them feels that same way about it.  It is like it one person in a group speaks there mind, anther person takes offense to it and again thinks that everyone in that group feels that way.  (maybe because no one else said anything).  I am guilty of this when I was younger too.  Also people take things too seriously and don't always consider where the comment / opinion came from and take it to heart, when it fact everyone has different opinions on that same subject, and no one person is ultimately right.Shaun

EXTREMELY incisive and thought-provoking. We need to be ourselves far more often, and be open to other opinions. Great work Teal!

I agree with you Teal. That's why I started the 'taboo talk' series on youtube, inspired by you. Openness and authenticity is so important. I have already stepped on a few toes in youtube comments because of the cultural differences. Thanks so much for sharing!!
