Klone v Klone: Nordvang & Studio Daydream

I forgot to upload this one a couple of weeks ago so better late than never. Two Klon clones compared. On the left we have the formidable Studio Daydream KCM-OD Silver, built in Japan. The KCM-OD Silver is a no-fuss, straight-up clone that I would choose and use in a heartbeat if I needed a top-shelf clone without frills. They do a 'Gold' version too for those wanting a little more. On the right is Henrik Nordvang's Gravity; one half Klon clone, the other half TS10 clone. It has all the bells and whistles. Henrik, an ex B&O engineer, builds these one by one himself with zero compromise on parts and quality. They are priced accordingly and there's usually a wait list. I can tell you that they are worth the wait. Here, I run them in isolated FX loops with the Axe-FX III MKII as 'amp' and host. That puts them on as even keel as I could manage. The Nordvang obviously has a slightly different signal path (two switchable OD's) but it doesn't seem to make a significant difference. I won't go on or there will be spoilers. I'll let the video tell the rest of the story.

I'm way behind with this but am really appreciating learning from you, Brett. You know how to make it sound uncomplicated. Cheers, Martin

Pretty damn close. Either would be great.

Very interesting. They are, for all intents and purposes, the same pedal... at least on the one side of the Nordvang.
I'd be curious to hear the Studio Daydream against the $50 Aliexpress Klon clone.

Great demo Brett - Thanks. I thought the Daydream overall seemed to have slightly more gain or volume compared to the Nordvang. With the gain maxed out, I heard a clear difference in favor of the Nordvang, in the other examples, it was extremely close except I felt that the Daydream was ever so slightly louder (maybe ½ a dB depending on where you set them).

How do you set up the inputs on the Axe? Do you have to pad a lot to avoid overloading the inputs?

I am very worried for my bank account, when Nordvang releases what seems to be a 3-in-1 Klon+BluesBreaker+TS10 overdrive this Friday - I don't need it, but boy do I want one.

Next step is to match all these settings on the two pedals to the drive block in the AxeFX :P
