How is using BT or even a WiFi connection considered "connected to the Internet"?  If the item stores the data and you transfer it via a cord into an app, then the item has nothing to do with the Internet.

I have yet to see anyone describe anything 'tangible' when discussing the internet of things. it seems to me, just another way to market 'smart' devices...
