This dude made golf fun for me. I watch his videos exclusively and I’ve improved so much. Been playing for 3 years and I’m very close to breaking 85 thanks my man.

The real lesson here is never be in a rush to hit bad shots.

This is beautiful. This is exactly my issue! I hit really well on the range because I take my time, but I hit bad shots when I play because I fell pressure and rush my down swing. I'm going to save this clip so I memorise your wise words! Thanks brother!

That’s the key. You need to understand how your body moves with the club .
But a lot of people they don’t understand this concept.
When you do it slowly you can feel it . Congratulations 👍

Your 100% right. I strike the ball better every time I feel that stopping point

That stopping point (feeling) is a game changer for me (beginner) for all my clubs - including wedge play. It “calms” my swing and makes it easier and more consistent.
Many, many thanks!!

Tom - giving you an update comment after my comments a few weeks ago. Used to shoot 50-55 on 9 holes regularly, just shot 40 this week after following your tips this season. Hoping to break 80 on 18 for the first time this year!

This is something I have found helps me a lot! Several years ago, as a beginner, I was struggling with partial swings because I was trying to start my backswing full speed and then suddenly stop the backswing for a shorter swing. This made the transition from backswing to downswing difficult. When I tried to make it feel like slow motion, I started making much better contact with the ball. I try it with my full swing, too. Much better.

Playing and teaching golf for 55 years. This is the best exercise ever. Slow the swing. Make clean contact.

Great lesson! Many classic instructors spoke on pausing at the top of the swing. Instructors like Sam Snead and Bobby Jones explain that a player should feel the full cocking of the wrist before starting the downswing. Most people begin the downswing before they are set, which robs them of power, accuracy, and consistency. While you said you don't want the feeling of "everything going at one time", waiting for that feeling of one’s stopping point actually sets up the player to do just that (move through in one piece).

Absolutely true ! I never hit the ball far swinging hard. It wasn't till I slowed the down swing that I hit it a lot further and a lot more consistently. Only took me 45 years to figure that out !

Dude my coach used to make me do something similar. Pausing at the top helps tremendously with tempo. I used to throw my shoulder/rush my swing and it would cause me to get steep and hit fat shots or I'd pull up and thin it. Pausing at the top prevents this. Also, another good drill is to try and hit 100 yard drivers.

Being relaxed and smooth is the best way to avoid shanks. Everyone thinks they have to muscle the club and they are inconsistent because of it. Even alot of different golf youtubers will do this and it drives me crazy. Power comes from momentum, leverage, and the speed of these two together. If you have good weight transfer and have solid form(for your body) you'll hit bombs.

Because of you Tim I have been hitting my irons, ball first. It’s like a
Miracle since I have so many terrible variables yet using a few of your tips I can finally enjoy playing again!!!
Thank you

I’ve been doing this. And the thing I found was slowing my backswing down a lot and feeling like it’s at a good point at the top before starting the downswing and it helped me a lot so this makes sense

Randomly discovered this on the range today. Wild how much of difference the stop before the downswing improved my control.

Off all the videos I’ve watched this is by far the most accurate for me. When I feel like I am “costing” in my down swing it comes off pure a lot. Obviously I am still an amateur and fight rush it tendency’s. A lot has to do with playing the correct t boxes for your length. You will fight your brain 10 fold if you feel the course is to long for you.
