In this video, Tasha and I dive into the controversy surrounding Linkin Park’s decision to replace their former lead singer, Chester Bennington, with Emily Armstrong. We explore the reactions from fans and the music community, as well as the strong comments made by Chester’s son, Jaime Bennington, against Mike Shinoda and Emily. Jaime’s concerns stem not only from the replacement but also from Emily’s connection to Danny Masterson. We tackle the tough questions: Does the band have the right to move on and tour without Chester? Should Jaime Bennington have a say in what the band does despite not being an official member? Join us as we break down the impact of these decisions on the legacy of Linkin Park. #tntpodcast #linkinpark #chesterbennington

To me, this feels a lot like Alice In Chains eventually moving on after Layne Staley's death. They aren't trying to "replace" the original voice of the at the same time that's what they did right? AIC's new stuff is not bad at all, especially since they still have Jerry on backing vocals, but it's just not the same band anymore without Layne. I feel the same way, regarding Linkin Park. They might still be good in their own right, but it just won't be the same without Chester. In both cases, I have gone from being a diehard fan of these bands, to being more of a casual fan. I still find myself going back to Layne-era AIC and Chester-era Linkin Park and I always will.

If Chester was the creative person, I would be more opposed but Mike Shinoda was the majority of it. I am not downplaying the role Chester had because he was the voice. I was having mixed feelings but when I found out Chester’s wife is in support of the new stuff, it made me more comfortable and I can’t get the song out of my head!

I agree with you guys bands need to pay bills and we don’t know their financial status we just think we do, I don’t think the new vocalist is erasing Chester it’s just a new era for the band. Bands change vocalist all the time the only two bands that kind of relate to this is the black dahlia murder and suicide silence, people are never going to like a new vocalist or any band member for that matter but to me it’s not my decision it’s there’s great video as always guys keep up the awesome work

Also, Chester had a band before called Grey Daze. And even after Chester died that band is still releasing albums using vocal recordings of Chesters voice from songs he sang in the 90s. So if anything people should be mad a this band for making albums using a dead mans vocals. That is almost as bad as creating AI generator songs of dead singers.

But you also gotta think. The bandmates all had dreams and passion in music. And they already established their legacies in Linkin Park too. You can't away their legacies and passion for playing their music. You cant tell the band hey your friend died so your dream has to die as well.

I wouldn't say they replaced him, he died, they had no other choice but to get another singer.

Keep it real, guy killed himself, the band can make money from their name. Its just the simple truth why should the band be punished and be poor because of Chester's decisions

they should have made a world wide tv show (Casting ) to pick the new singer they would make millions and the fans would pick the winner

Chester was awesome obviously, but his kid, wife, or any random internet hater doesn't get to say when the band ends or who they should recruit. The dudes that were there in the beginning almost 30 years ago do. The fans can do it as well by not buying the new music, or going to the shows -- which happen to be selling out in minutes, lol. I for one, think the new song is really cool, and I got a bit choked up when I saw them perform it on the live stream. I had figured they were gone, and Mike looked so damn happy, it made me happy...

Chester had a hard time with Chris Cornell of Audioslave committing suicide from what I gather and as far as them continuing on I'm mixed about it it's hard to welcome it or not you love their music of the past thstyle and Chester will never be as it was, there's been alot of groups that have continued on after losing members tragically or in general really it's just a thing of what and how to move forward either way there's going to be lovers and haters no matter what And thank you for your podcast on this

Jaime Bennington is the estranged son. The rest of Chester's family have been supportive of Emily.

Chester wasn't a founding member. Mike Shinoda is, and, Chester wasn't even their first singer. I think the people complaining actually worshipped Chester and aren't actual fans.

I'll wait until I hear Emily produce new music with Linkin Park until I pass judgment. It's hard to be fair when she's singing their older songs. She's a good vocalist, but comparing her to Chester isn't fair.
