Latin America wants to create the OPEC of lithium.

Three Latin American countries control 65% of the world's lithium reserves and could band together to set the price.

BT's Kei Pritsker explains what this would mean and why the US is so obsessed with Latin America's lithium.

The US government's greed and dominance is nauseating. Power to the United States of Latin America!

That clip of the general is so on the nose. The people of South America should take that as a threat

Mexico just found a huge lithium reserve, and they've now nationalized it.

With the new sodium battery by China, the attraction to lithium may be transitory.

That is a smart idea but how can they implement it? Those 3 countries alone don't have particularly strong military forces to defend it from US interests. Maybe if more countries got involved the tide would turn.

I hope making money from lithium and other exports can turn Bolivia into a rich and prosperous socialist country.

On a unrelated side note as a Veteran...how in the hell does that General have her hair down like that? That is absolutely against regulations, you are supposed to keep your hair up and in a bun General. Regular enlisted and officers will never get away with that and you'll never see Marines breaking regulations like that.

It's a good thing sodium is an alternative

They must form a cartel, because alternative batteries like sodium based will chip away at lithium value

We don't want lithium for cars. We want hydrogen technology. We also want 10, 000 year synthetic diamond batteries for electronics. 😏

A Lithium Cartel is an excellent goal for Latin American Counties. From Mexico to Peru, Chile, Bolivia to Argentina a new Cartel for Latin America is just what Latin Americans need to increase wealth for Latin Americans. Make sure this new wealth excludes the International Financial Class from this wealth. Countries around the world must learn to vet
who's pockets this wealth is held by. Be sure to define if this wealth is held/controlled by Muslims, Christians, Jews or Hundu's or Buddhist? Make sure those who hold/control wealth reflect per population of their religious beliefs are proportional to their numbers. Do not let a minority hold disproportionately to their numbers a countries wealth which belongs to the people of each respective country!

Good plan, South America.
Then I only hope for you that sodium batteries won't make lithium batteries redundant any day soon.

Meanwhile lithium (and other minerals) extraction from seawater is going to make the devastation of lithium mining a thing of the past?

We need graphite and other types of batteries to grow quickly! It's better if there's as many different types of batteries as possible. That's better for access for the Global South and also makes sure that coupe mongers have to many options so they can't focus. Diversifying is also important for the environment, lithium is heavy on water usage and is very damaging to the Earth in its production process. Not even mentioning what happens when it catches fire.
