How to Get Microsoft Word for Free

So how do you open files you already have on your computer OUTSIDE of using One Drive? I want Word for my computer like it used to be without having to download Office.

I didn't want to use word online, thanks for the alternative suggestion but, I'm certain you're supposed to pronounce the E, Libre = Free, in Spanish.
