as a heads up this video was filmed before i figured out how to adjust my camera. It also could be my genes gave out after years of mixing with the Hapsburgs

I recall reading about the Hapsburgs that several generations tried repeatedly to marry women outside their lines, but those women didn't produce children and ultimately died, leading their widowers to remarry Hapsburg women. The whole thing is wild.

What's makes this all so much worse, is it isn't like they didn't know this was bad. They may not have known exactly why, but they absolutely knew it was. Even back thousands of years, we knew. We knew with livestock. There was only so much inbreeding you could do. So there is no excuse for them.

Fundamentalists Mormon groups are having problems with this. If one father has 76 kids, and only a handful of men are given permission to have families like this, eventually the inbreeding starts causing problems.

As a person born and raised in Hawaii who speaks Hawaiian I thank you for talking about our islands because some people don’t even know we exist and yes I know that this isn’t a great video to talk about Hawaii but I’m strictly speaking about the background you talk about for context at timestamp 32:00 which you did a great job explaining Hawaiian society and I just wanted to thank you for that, keep up the great content bro and mahalo nui loa ko’u hoa( that is “thank you very much my friend” in Hawaiian language)
