Thank you very much. One way to work around this in Word 2007 is to start by drawing the predefined shape that you want then trace its sides and points with a free form shape and finally delete the predefined shape. You will end up with exactly the shape that you want and you will be able to edit the points. To be able to get the white points that allows for curving, stop at the black point then right click and select smooth point.

I am using Office 2019 Standard and my issue is that when I Edit Points and right click on a segment the popup dialog appears to work but is quickly greyed out and things like 'delete segment' are unavailable. Any help for that?
