We have a new M2 iPad Pro, a new 10th generation iPad which looks suspiciously like an iPad Air... and a surprise new Apple TV. But what is there to get excited about... if anything?

I don’t understand the colours. One always encases the devices in protective cases. Just purchase the colour case one desires.

I am honestly so upset that they increased the price, to the A14 bionic instead of the 15... and no support for the 2nd generation apple pencil...like why!!!!

Great video, Mark. I echo many of your sentiments here.

Personally, I prefer the 11-inch iPad Pro for a couple of reasons:

1) I don't personally like the Mini-LED display of the 12.9-inch model. I know I'm picky, and lots of people love it. But the blooming effect was just more than I was willing to accept, so I returned mine and went with the 11-inch model instead. (I suppose it's odd considering I love the Mini-LED display on my 14-inch MacBook Pro.)

2) I prefer the size of the 11-inch model. It's slightly smaller, yes, but it feels more portable and less like I'm carrying around a computer monitor. For me, it's the perfect size for reading and drawing on the go.

The iPad Air is indeed a nice device, but it has a few key differences. For example:

1) It lacks ProMotion (as you mentioned in the video).
2) It has USB-C but no Thunderbolt / USB 4 support.
3) Its storage only goes up to 256GB, which is fine for a lot of people but if you work with a lot of video content, it may be insufficient.
4) It lacks stereo recording.
5) It has no Ultra Wide camera (for those who care about that).
6) It has no Portrait mode, which I quite like on my iPhone.
7) For the 2 people who care, it lacks a LiDAR scanner.

So the Air is definitely a nice tablet, but not meant for quite the same type of user, I think.

The new iPad Pro does seem a bit same-y to me. I suppose the new Apple Pencil hover feature is neat, but I'm not sure that's really anything to upgrade for if someone has a 2021 M1 iPad Pro. But upgrading from the 2018 model, the 2022 release is sure to be a nice upgrade.

I'll be interested to hear what you think when you get your new iPad.

Again, great stuff here. I always enjoy your content here and on Medium.

I’m one of the people with the 11” iPad Pro. The 12.9” was just too big for my use case, 11” was the perfect size.

I also have a 2018 ipad pro 11 inch and love it but I am going to be getting the m2 ipad pro also in 11 inch. I take my ipad everywhere I go so the 11 inch is perfect for me.

The new iPad is basically a stripped down iPad Air 4 with a price tag which in reality makes it very worthwhile to consider the iPad Air 5 instead.

The iPad Pro is just an obligatory update from Apple, if you didn't get an M1 model, well, now there's a newer one haha. Davinci Resolve coming to iPad is a big deal though - you say it's not good enough but Resolve is more commonly used in the industry than FCPX 🤷🏻‍♂

I seen lot of YouTube videos about the new I-Pad and most if not all are not loving the new I Pads- price and lack of features I’m guessing .
People would pay whatever the price is if they decided to get a new I pad .

hey mark, really enjoyed your videos and review. I wonder can you do a video on how you'd recycle all of your electronics? or let us know the right way to do so?

If Apple sells the new I pads then they will continue to make I pads with little as possible new features but with increased price .
Don’t understand why Apple didn’t change the camera to landscape for the new I pad pro .

They have “final cut” on iPad now. Da Vinci Resolve announced that they are putting their software on the iPad. It is a new app and it is not like the crap adobe has done.

Ipad air does have an m1 chip in it and Davinci resolve is actually an industry standard for films. However, you're right in saying our 2018 ipad pro is still baller.

Why did I upgrade from my M1 iPad Pro to the M2 iPad Pro? I got tired of my WiFi dropping every 30-60 minutes, no matter what WiFi I used (hopefully, 6E and the new chip will put an end to this). I could care less where they place the front camera.

I''m not in need at the moment for any of this stuff - but - one sour note is that the new iPad 10 uses the 1st get pencil. that's a bit of an unnecessary bummer. O well, as I say, I'm not the market for any of these, quite happy w/ relatively new "old" stuff, so I'll just carry on, w/ my new Ultra watch (love it), and AirPods Pro 2 (LOVE the volume ability, the battery life, and the sound quality). So there you have

Apple just felt the need to launch a “new iPad Pro”. Not much difference between the new one and the 2021 models.
I sold my 2018 iPad Pro, bought a 2021 recently then realized there was little to no major difference between the two.
Yeah Right Apple, “well done”. 😤😤

That "annoy-face" in the thumbnails.

Hahahahaha! I had a bit of a chuckle.

The “hover” feature has always been available on iPad with 2nd gen pencil support as an accessibility feature to magnify text.

Safe travels! Are you editing on the go with the M2 Air or 16 MBP? Keen to see your thoughts as it’s like a previous reaction video you had to make on the go!

I kinda think getting DaVinci Resolve on the iPad is a bigger deal for the industry at large compared to FCP. However it's pretty funny that a third party with a much more complicated application and no first-party insight were able to port to the iPad before Apple themselves.
