How I diagnosed my front USB ports and what I found to why they were not recognizing any USB flash drive

Hi my name is Jason. Working on PCs has really just been a hobby for me for some time now. I graduated from ITT Tech back in 2013 with a degree in Computer Electronics working with component level stuff and now find myself to be more attracted to building and fixing them.

Corsair 200R:

HP Specs:

HP pavilion p7-1439

OS Original windows 8
OS upgrade windows 10

CPU AMD A10 5700

Motherboard - MS-7778 REV 1.0

HDD Original 1.5TB
SSD upgrade PYN 120GB just for boot

Graphics card Radeon R5 220 2GB HDMI

This was the most oddest thing I've seen thus far but I'm sure it won't be the last
But as you can see this was the cause of the HP MB being proprietary in the pin layout, therefore you can not use a after market PC case in the event either just want to or have case damage etc...

Same thing with my Silverstone SST-PS13B case front USB 3.0 ports not working with my HP Pavilion motherboard. Was causing much headache. Glad I found your video. Thanks for clearing it up

i'm in a very similar situation, the new case has a 1 usb 2.0 and 1 usb 3.0 in the front. the 2.0 and everything else on the front panel works fine. just got a cheap case because i didn't wanna have to cut away part of the old HP case to ensure the new rx570 gpu fit. specs are a ivy bridge i7 3770 12gb ddr3 1600mhz in dual channel. good video

Im about to buy a mobo which has 10 front USB headers on it. Whats the use of 10 USB port headers on the motherboard when the ATX cases mostly have only 2 to 3 ports on them. How do we exploit the available mobo headers for more useable USB ports ?

I replaced the mobo in my Pavilion 15XX and had the exact same issue. While the plug fits the USB3 port on the very nice micro atx Gigabyte board, the plugs are dead and device manager thinks they're fine. HP strikes again. The mobo and power supply in these things are garbage. Very dissapointing.
