I adopted a five year old Husky a few years ago. By far and away the most challenging dog I’ve ever had, but also rewarding. To anybody that is thinking about adopting one, PLEASE DO YOUR This breed is not for the faint of heart.
They are Loud.
They shed like a blizzard in the Arctic.
They are ESCAPE ARTISTS.
They are Stubborn.
They do not have a high motivation to please their owners.
They have very high energy levels.

This is not a dog you can just stick in the back yard and call it good enough. They will escape because they want to explore and they need to roam. These guys take at least an hour and a half to two hours of vigorous exercise Every Single Day, or they will be restless and unhappy- and they’ll take out that frustration on your ear drums. Or your property, with their teeth. Many Huskies are also diggers, so be prepared for a torn up yard.

I ended up with my Husky at 5 years old because 4 different people saw a very pretty dog, and didn’t think it through, and then couldn’t handle her. I knew what I was getting into when getting a Husky, and even for me, an experienced dog owner, it was a big challenge. But it was extremely rewarding to gain her trust and both of us increased in confidence. I also lost a good bit of weight (that was part of the reason why I chose an active breed, bc I wanted an external reason to make me exercise), which was great for my health. She brought a world of good into my life, and I honestly would not be the person I am today if it wasn’t for her. Sadly, after just two years, I lost her to bone cancer. But I will always be eternally grateful for her presence in my life and the things she taught me. RIP Lexa.

I used to have a neighbor who had a huskie. The huskie was extremely well trained and protective, and I had to win him over little by little. When he let me pet him, he always stayed about arms-length away, just in case, and he wouldn't look at me, as if he was embarrassed.

But one time, that neighbor was dogsitting a big boxer dog, who wasn't trained at all. Once when I went out into the backyard, the boxer charged me; she probably wasn't going to attack me, but she was very aggressive and trying to dominate. But almost as soon as she bounded toward me, the husky intercepted her literally in midair and knocked her over backwards to protect me. That's when I knew I had made a friend.

They are also incredibly stubborn because they believe they know better 😭 they dont shut up and they dont stop demanding attention.

I love my Husky she’s hilarious and the best running partner a girl can ask for. I’ve had her since she was 6 months and she’s gonna be 5 in October. Her only weakness is food. The moment she hears the word food, treat or snack she starts doing zoomies and sings the song of her people. Husky’s are not for the weak so if you get one be prepared for attitudes you’d never think would come from a dog and lots of funny moments.
