Today's class is all about TWISTS. If we do not stretch and lengthen the fascia and connective tissues in our spine, overtime, it will shorten and loose its range of motion. Twisting is so important and I highly recommend doing it at least once everyday. Beyond that, twisting helps to "wring" us out by compressing the internal organs, also helping to facilitate digestion. #yoga #yinyoga #spinehealth #yogatwists #yogafordigestion

What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is MAGIC. Well, that is how I would describe it. Yin yoga is a practice that that allows you to go beyond the superficial layers of the body and access the deeper layers. This means in a Yin Yoga practice you are going beyond the muscles and right into the deep connective tissues of the body. Our connective tissues are made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form our joints. Therefore, when you practice Yin Yoga you are able to increase your range of motion, your flexibility and strengthen your joints. A win win! If you ask me. Yin yoga is more than stretching, we are “stressing” the connective tissues and we do this with longer holds and intuitive breathing.

When practicing always remember

1. Meet the pose at YOUR edge (gradually)
2. Find stillness and focus on your breath
3. Resolve to be still

Hi there! I searched for yin yoga and I scrolled until I found a Brown person so this is my first time seeing your channel and I am so grateful to you for creating all of these yin videos!!!

I adore yin yoga, and I also adore the high quality representation! Two years ago I began the process of intentionally looking for Brown femme everything — authors, exercise instructors, yoga channels etc. I say high quality because for safety purposes it is really important that teachers/instructors give specific and timely cues (especially since we’re not in a studio where they can correct my technique).

Anyway, you can’t control your skin color, but you can choose to shoot videos, edit and post them. You do choose to give specific instructions. You do choose to record in a sweet and aesthetically pleasing space. So for all the choices you’ve made to create this bomb content, I send gratitude and appreciation to you. Go off! 🏆🎖🏆👑

This was the perfect sequence of twists. The length of the poses was a fantastic challenge that released the tension I've been carrying. Truly therapeutic! I am saving this video.
