Are you able to talk about issues with your partner? Or do they dodge and deflect the issue, and say things like, “You’re blowing things out of proportion,” or “You’re remembering it wrong, that’s not what happened!” or “That’s ridiculous, why would you say that?” They make you out to be the bad guy for even bringing it up. If you find yourself in a relationship with someone who constantly dismisses and invalidates what you think, believe and feel (which is the definition of gaslighting) there’s one very important thing you MUST do to stop the crazy-making and take back your power – and that is self-validation. In this video, Dr. Hawkins talks about the importance of owning your story and the four things that happen when you practice self-validation – you become empowered, you gain a stronger sense of self, you learn to better manage your emotions, and you don’t let other’s opinions have power over you.

Dr. Hawkins and his team of experts offer education and professional training as well as treatment for narcissistic and emotional abuse.

I found writing my story down on paper helped me tremendously and reading it to self and other's over again, reinforced it in my mind as i was forever going back into the relationship, thinking it was me and needing to do more inner work.
Thankyou David

Brilliant video.
Awareness is key, so many of us think it's us, not them, but it's them and it's abuse

My narcissistic abuser happily self validates. I think the true decider is whether your self validation does not involve cost or sacrifice by anyone else. Narcissists are extremely good at self validation, that's the whole problem, sadly.
