Oil Loss Trick Everyone Should Know!

Equipment hydraulic lines fail and it's great if you can do the maintenance without any loss of oil. We use a trick or hack on this Caterpillar D4 dozer when replacing a suction line. Hopefully this helps somebody. A little bonus story time with Dad too!

If I was helping you, I woulda turned the shop vac off then back on just as you cut through the hose with the hacksaw. Cause..you know that oil is good for the skin... And as you were squealing under the machine. "thanks for watchin' have a great day" !!!

Ive used that trick to change the valve on the bottom of 275 gallon heating oil tanks. Works like a charm 👍 Just found your channel today, and love the content. -Subscribed-

I've used the vacuum trick, works. Another is when you want to change valve springs without taking the heads off, bust out the glass part of a old spark plug and glue an air fitting in it so you can pressurize the cylinder and take the spring off without the valve dropping. Have a great day.

I wish I would have thought of that, I replaced the transmission pump on mine last year and the hardest part was draining the tank. Thanks for that idea. I sure like to listen to those old stories. Some of those guys can really tell them.

Great video! Wonderful stories from your dad. That reminded me of my dad. He did not graduate High School because he punched
his math teacher in the nose, and walked away from the school. He worked for over 55 years as a journeyman machinist.
