Get a Cheap Second Citizenship without Moving

Join us for the next Nomad Capitalist Live event:

Some time ago, we coined the term “paper citizenship” to refer to a second passport that you can get relatively easily without having to spend much (if any) time actually living in the country where you’re trying to obtain citizenship. The process of using a paper residency to get citizenship is fairly straightforward.

Generally, you must first get a temporary or permanent residence permit in the country. Then, you take that piece of paper, put it in your pocket, and leave the country. Depending on where you get the second residence, you might have to come back for a day every six months. Maybe you only need to pop in once a year.

In this video, Mr Henderson shares how paper residence works.

The problem I have run into is that getting the pass port takes MUCH longer than advertised. Once they have your money they don't care. I have waited over 10 months for mine.

I agree with others that say Nomad Capitalist needs to have packages. For instance. I should get my pass port soon. That is the easy part I think. I don't need help with that.
Moving shouldn't be that hard. Lots of people move.
The hard part is getting any wealth out of the US. There no simple guide lines. Even a prices based on filling out a questionnaire would be good. For instance a retired person will have different needs than one still making money, crypto traders or running a small business.

I get the $25K business model, but I wish Nomad Capitalist could create a package for the not yet so high income/net worth individuals who desire freedom and are just starting out on their journey towards high income/net worth & freedom. I'd gladly pay say $500 an hour for a few hours visit/consultation to get some key insights and advice on my plans & ambitions.

I must admit, I'm in a bit of disbelief at the recent changes you've made to this video - removing the background music, specifically. This change has dramatically enhanced the viewing experience and I can't thank you enough for it.

The fact that you not only read, but also implement feedback is truly commendable. It's rare to find a content creator who places such a high value on their audience's input, and for that, I want to express my deep appreciation.

The removal of the background music has made the focus on your actual content much clearer. I'm in awe at how much this small change has improved my overall experience. I genuinely hope to see this music-free format continue in your future videos.

Your commitment to bettering your content for your viewers doesn't go unnoticed. Thank you for your dedication and attentiveness to our feedback.

Eagerly looking forward to what's next!

The title suggests this video will discuss a 2nd citizenship available without moving. The video didnt mention the country or any of the details.

I'm Norwegian and I got my second citizenship in Costa Rica. While the Costa Rican passport definitely is decent, it doesn't really give me access to a huge amount of additional countries. One exception is Russia, but that isn't really worth much these days. I still enjoy alternating nationalities when traveling though.

I'm American and have Irish citizenship by decent (dad born there) and Italian citizenship by decent (grandma born there). Tri-national US, Irish and Italian.

U can get it if your parent(s) are from another country that allows dual citizenship.

I was born in former USSR (Ukraine today), also got Hungarian citizenship after my mother obtained it when I was still just a child, also got naturalised British citizenship recently. I think with these 3 passports travel is quite flexible in terms of countries around Europe and the rest of the world. Hungarian passport for within EU, British passport for commonwealth and Ukrainian for some of the ex soviet countries.

Before trying to get a 2nd or 3rd passport consider which countries allow you to stay for long periods of time with your current passport or passports and then consider if you like those options!
Sometimes the benefits increase or decrease, or may increase for some places while decreasing for others.

Paper residence in Costa Rica and Paraguay sounds good to me since I already speak the language.

The Swiss thing is interesting. I looked into it from an ancestral point of view. My ancestors emigrated to German territory in 1649. The rest of the family stayed Swiss and are still in the place of origin. I can't get citizenship by decent. I also can't get my German citizenship back either as I served in the Australian defence force. Those two are out. My wife is Thai and we have properties there so that's the goal in the next 5-10 years.. I have another option but that's secret

It is certainly worth acquiring / claiming dual or multiple citizenship; however, NONE of them are cheap!

I am swiss native and will leave this corrupt, with extremely criminal "justice", super-expensive country soon. Getting now finally disabled insurance. Looks to me that Paraguay is the best option. I allready speak well spanish. I will be free there. Cheap. Growing. And some protection from criminal debt they pretend here I was in. And even zero or lower tax.

My aunt and her whole family did this for canada. On paper they were on welfare and they collected most benefits. But they lived back in pakistan as doctors. And they would periodically come and go. But since they never spent much in canada, their coffers filled. They do pay taxes on the property they bought. But they rarely lived a few months in the past 5 years.

Hello! Hubby and I are recently retired, 59, in Canada. We're fine financially. Wondering if we should leave Canada and live happily ever after elsewhere. Any ideas? Should we move our bank accts to the new country? Do we need to legally say bye-bye? What's most efficient? We have a daughter in Canada, so hope to help her out financially occasionally. Thanks!
