Paul McCrane really sold that toxic waste exposure. Really great acting.

I remember being so traumatized by this scene when I saw it as a kid. It was graphic like no other scene I had ever seen. Holds surprisingly well today, too. The sounds he makes, the deformation, and the absolute gory mess left behind... 80's really was something else.

His flesh and skeleton melt down to liquid BUT his pants are fine. That's quality denim right there.

2:03 Don’t touch me man!”

That’s no act. He was legitimately scared!

I love how things were labeled in pre-2000's movies. No real-world chemical names, just a big "TOXIC WASTE" sign.

I remember my mom laughing HYSTERICALY at Leon's face when he screams at Emil. She made me rewind it a few times on the VHS. LOL

That splattering against the winshield never gets old. The body just disintegrated against the windshield vs tumbling over in one piece. Lol. The dude was truly affected with acid.

Whoever was the location scout for this movie... I tip my hat. The scenery is like another character to this whole sequence!

This scene haunted me as an 8 year old kid. I was both fascinated and horrified by the special effects. I both wanted to see and not see the resultant effects of the toxic waste. Man, the 80s really were a golden era of film-making. It was the last breath of a bygone era.

Leon's face when he screams upon seeing Emil seriously needs to be a meme.

"Help me!"

Getting run over may not have been the help he wanted, but it was surely the help he NEEDED! 😂😂😂

His friend could've give him a mercy kill. But he didn't. Truly a villain.

His homie’s horrified expression and exclamation of “DON’T TOUCH ME MAN!” makes me laugh every single time. 2:03

Had to laugh at around 1:06 - the stunt performer in the Robocop get-up starts to run out of the way, then that pause as if he remembers, "Oh yeah, Robo doesn't run. Oops." 😄

"Aaaahhhh. . .don't touch me, man!" Always laughed at that. 😂

The practical effects in this movie are state of the art. You'll believe any day that guy was really melting down in toxic waste.

Fun fact: according to IMDB, Leon Nash's horror reaction in 02:05 was actually from his performer, actor Ray Wise. It's because Wise didn't know about the scene of Emil being corroded by the toxic waste and thus never saw the makeup process who gave actor Paul McCrane the looks of a person melting due to toxic waste. Ray Wise saw Paul McCrane being "disintegrated" by the toxic stuff and got truly scared.

Similar thing happened two years prior, in the first Return of The Living Dead movie: actress Beverly Randolph, who played Tina, got a real scare in the basement scene when the zombie Tarman shows up for the first time. Beverly never knew of the makeup process which transformed Allan Trautman into the hideous Tarman.
