I'd paint it. You've already got all the bright work you need on the mothership!

Go to a leather goods craft store where you can find a rotating hole punch, mounted in a handle that will save you some time on your project.

Great episode! Prayers this one doesn't get stolen too❤ you have to share with us your methods of getting the birds to eat out of your hands. Snow White skills😂

You must prime and paint it. Even with UV blocking varnish, the epoxy will weaken in intense tropical sun. I did my rails bright on my epoxy boat, the sun rotted the uncovered epoxy in a year, I ended up painting them.

Please use a seamstress pinwheel when marking out parts on the ply. I falls asleep watching you work out with that nail. BWBB

Such a cool way to relax. I have a plywood lapstrake boat. Outside is painted, inside is finished with cetol marine. Both easy fix when dinged up.

Paint it to match the mother ship. No on will mistake it for anyone else. Thanks for sharing

I built a couple cedar strip composite canoes and an Ulua 18’ sailing outrigger canoe. I left the bright with spar varnish for UV protection. 16 and 11 years good use in Florida living on the coast. Stored outside, finally covered in the last 5 years. I’m painting them both finally, and the older one is getting major delamination repairs. Anything I build from now on won’t have bright finish because I am not great about constant maintenance that the varnish wanted.

I appreciate a worker who knows to thicken all epoxy glue-ups. Surfaces are never perfect matches.

Tidy work on those scarfs, when I did mine for my Welsford Truant build I laid both sheets of ply together, one flipped and offset. Then used a power plane to shave the 6:1 on both at the same time. It came out serviceable enough for my first go (assuming I don’t sink when this first tastes salt water 😂) but not as clean as yours by hand!

Have you ever heard of yawl boats? More than a tender, yawl boats served as a personal tugboat for large sail boats. They used them a lot in the Chesapeake for the bugeyes and skipjacks (engineless working sail). If you beef up the bows of your dinghy, bigger stem couple of stout breasthooks and maybe a thicker stern and knees with some sturdy posts in the quarters . When the time come she could push or pull Redaviva as needed with ease. Just my ¢2.

Garrett, how about some trim natural and the hull painted a bit of each would look cool !

Make that dinghy sail! And ditto the best oars you can. You'll never be short of those fuels. Great job. Craftsmanship is its own reward. Love you guys. Remember... learn French, get a long stay visa and get down here. Remember how you felt when you hit tropical Mexico. Ten times that waits down here.

I want to say a big thank you for including the soundtrack artists you're using, in your credits. It's tipped me off about a bunch of cool music I would never otherwise have found!
