Thank you so much for clarifying everything. I basically googled up monopoly for dummies, so instructionas were REALLY easy to understand. And your explanation of mortaging cleared everything up. Thank you so much.

@saldivarrr yes, i am sure. If you land on a utility you pay the amount on the dice shown by four if one is owned and 10 if both are owned. You only re-role if you get the "advance token to nearest utility card". This is in the official rules as well as "The Monopoly Companion" which is where i get all my information.

@plessans I usually buy at least one house on each as soon as i get a color group. If I have enough money right away, and mortgaging my properties that are not in a group or worth trading, I go up to three on each. I only build when players are near my group, 2 dice roles is a good amount. I always keep 200-300 on me at all times.

In response to one of the discussions below: Sharing profits is considered "partial ownership" which is strictly forbidden in the rules.

Futures are also strictly forbidden, including future profits, future trades, future Chance/Community Chest cards, etc. You may only trade with property and money that you have on hand.

@saldivarrr Yes, it is called trading cash. You can trade any amount of cash, properties or "get out of jail free" cards for any other amount of cash properties or "get out of jail free" cards.

@markyvitan You can bid up by any amount greater than $1 and the person who put the property up for auction can bid on it, hope that what what you wanted cleared up!

monopolybestgameevar

@ectoplasma2 Yes, that is technically possible, but remember, you can also always bid on a property you put up, so if you are buying it for less than mortgage value, it is worth it to bid.

@saldivarrr you can buy houses between anyones turn. The only time you can't buy is during someones turn.

@markyvitan If you are released from jail by rolling doubles, you do not roll the dice again. If you pay or use a get out of jail free card and then roll doubles, you do roll the dice again.

@monopolybestgameevar yeah that's what I figured too although I could see this theoretically making a difference. If a player lands on GO when just a few dollars from bankruptcy then the next player gets a "collect $50 from each player card". If they had to wait until passing GO it could make a big difference in the game.

One more quick question about a chance card :-S On the chance card "advance token to nearest utility". Does nearest mean the nearest going forward only (same with nearest railroad)? Water works is found 8 spaces behind a chance card and the electric company is found 16 ahead of that same chance card. Wouldn't water works be the one to go to then? Also it doesn't say whether you get pass GO money or not, is it assumed we do?

@marsh84722 You always advance on the Monopoly board except when drawing the go back 3 spaces card. So you would advance to the utility in front of you, even if the one behind you is closer. If you are advancing and go past GO, you collect $200.

@plessans Why does your dad like the green? Yes they are a powerhouse, but the yellows are a whole lot better. They pay off quicker and are more likely to be landed on. For your sake, you should not buy too many cheap properties. Yes the utilities are cheap, but it takes forever to get your money back. You can also play a version of the game where all properties landed on are immediately gone to auction. This version requires an incredible knowledge of the Monopoly game.

@marsh84722 Yes you do get $200 for landing on GO (as in the next tern you will move past it). The community chest card does not give you an extra $200 for GO. Awesomeness for paying such close attention to detail in Monopoly!

@BenGeocth When you bankrupt a player, you get everything they had. All property, money and get out of jail free cards go to you. You can then unmortgage and develop them, so even though you aren't getting the rent, you get everything they once owned and can make money off of that.

@marsh84722 Yes, the new versions have several new additions to make the game go faster. When I play on one of those, I just play with $75 luxury tax and include the10% option on income tax. You can play either way, however. Its not really going to affect the outcome, it just depends if you want to play a little more quickly.

I haven't been this confused since... my teacher taught me how to play RISK. I can't grasp this part, maybe next time, use a visual example. The guy who made the RISK video did, and it made perfect sense. I'm a visual learner, I would really like to know how to play Monopoly again, please.

@Lugo428 Player C gets the amount of money printed on the back of the card (half of the sale value), he keeps $50 for himself and gives the $50 he owes to player A.

@MyzterB look in the trading section :) You can play with immunity, your game is going to last several hours longer however
