What is dark matter Brian Cox explained that we don’t know exactly what dark matter is. Dark matter is a hypothetical form of matter thought to account for approximately 85% of the matter in the universe. Related topics #science #physics #universe #darkenergy #darkmatter #dark #briancox

I'd like it to be a series of standard model copies that don't couple to us (other than gravity), then we could have parallel universes right here in out universe...but that is unlikely.

If an anti particle was held in 4th dimensional space, theoretically, would it be possible to detect? Gravitational effects, maybe. If it were entangled with a particle, that would be difficult to differentiate. IDK particle jets got me bugging 😂

As a dumb college student in 1976, I knew something like dark matter existed, it was just impossible for me to fathom a vacuum in space where nothing existed. I argued this with my professor in such a belligerent manner and wouldn’t accept his vacuum theory, he expelled me from his class

Dark matter on Earth: Dark matter can be trapped inside massive objects, and much of it may be closer to the surface of stars and planets than we realised. On Earth, there may be more than 10 trillion dark matter particles in each cubic centimetre of the planet's crust.

Space and space time is a mesh of negative charged quarks. They don't touch eCh other because they are like charged. They don't touch atoms because of the shell of negative charged electrons around the positive nucleus. Hiwever, they are held together like paired quarks, but on all sides. The quarks them selvescare dark matter. The energy holding them in the mesh is dark energy.

How can something with such enormous mass be so ellusive? Haven't they just messed up the original 'mass of the universe' calculations or forgotten to add in mass from black holes?

Did he just say ”theories” but meant hypothesises?

I think: Wrong! I think there are other dimensions that affect ours. But then, what do I know? As much as anyone. And I don't profess to be an expert.
By the way, a particle physicist thinks it's a particle? Astounding, Cox! 🇬🇧

Took energy is the field not a particle it’s called the way particle duality

I think we are better off not knowing

Its real matter is an alternate dimension. 😊

I would say that it's all the choices we didn't make.

Dark matter is not a particle it is more like a ocean.

What if dark matter consists of fields?

spend billions to look and all they ever find is exactly enough dust to cover the issue with dark matter but it cant be the dust because the dust they keep finding cant exist so they see dust and dismiss it because they cant accept what they find but theyll spend billions more proving the dust that they find cant possibly be the answer and continue finding nothing else

Dark matter is just cover for a flawed observation.

omg, when you seek the answer within you, you shall know the truth of the universe! Ps: compare the molecules between the secon third sixth and seventh with our own!

Turns out it might be created by super massive black holes
