5 Minutes Alone is amazing and gets even better once you hear the backstory.

Dimebags guitar is an eargasm. He could play twinkle twinkle and make it sound like God nectar. RIP Dime

Vinnie on drums is insane: his younger brother Dime and him make an amazing team, and hell has a dynamic duo!! RIP Vinnie

So glad you enjoyed the Pantera sampler. I only ever got to seem the live twice. The first time was magical- everything I wanted, and I 16 year old me caught a cup of beer Dimebag flung into the audience and it's still on my bookshelf to this day.
When they were on- it was real heavy metal art. The second time I saw them it was in the Reinventing the Steel days and it wasn't so great. Doesn't matter. I was a the stage barrier and Dimebag was doing his thing. I sometimes can't believe that my ears shared space with the vibrating air he was producing.
Best of all metal? Opinions vary.
But all the the talent that was Pantera coming together is very rare.

"A now blacked heart is reaching out in divinity
Bodies suspended by chains over razors and nails
It's a penalty
Each razor a vice and each nail marks demise of your life
Grim construction grows
Has life played a trick?
Sealed you in brick by brick till your end
Forcing you to bend"

This describes my mother suffering from dementia in nursing home. Memories hang her suspended and are cutting at her like a penalty for all bad choices. And it is getting grimmer by the week. She might think life played trick on her but she brought this on herself, piece by piece, brick by brick she built this prison around herself until the end when the weight could not longer be carried and it caved in on her, forcing her to bend now.

That is specific, but in general, I think this song speaks about infatuation with idea of being worth more than others and resenting them for not recognizing it, turning aggression to self, going into living hell while words stare into your soul.

The song is about domination. In life, in struggles, in general. Kick it's ass if it's in your way.

Pantara "Cemetery gates" you can hear kind of how diverse Phil is. I'm broken, cowboys from hell, this love, mouth of war, fucking hostile, revolution is my name, 5 minutes alone and so many more

Two absolutely fantastic songs. Domination with the best breakdown ever known with the solo is facemelting. And Hollow with one of the most underrated solos ever.

Pantera had the most brutal pits I ever jumped in - it was frightening and enjoyment at the same time. You had better bring your "A" game to these pits. I am a 3 time survivor and I absolutely cherish the fact that I was there to do it. RIP Abbott brothers!

I know you like live versions of heavy-metal, but you should also check out the album versions. You really get the feel of how clean those guitar riffs and drums are. Especially on bands, like slayer, Pantera, and system of a down.

That was just a portion of both songs. Check out studio versions. Live versions are meant for fans and fans have heard the studio versions a hundred times.

Full Sound from 3 Musician’s. Listen how the rhythm stays consistent from Drums and Bass when the guitar solos happen. No backing track fill in, just pure raw music.
About 90% of all their songs on albums are the same way.
What you hear on the record, you hear on stage. Saw them 3 times live.
