Instead of making and crashing safer cars why can't we make safer roads and drivers?

To anyone thinking about buying a 500

1: check the brake discs for corrosion and make sure that they don't squeak

2: go for one with air con or climate control as the base heater mostly found on the pop trim does nothing

3: avoid the automatic transmission as it's slow to change gear and jerky at lower speeds

4: don't go for the cheapest 500 you can find. As it won't be properly maintained and can have loads of dents and dings of the doors and bumpers

5: ideally go for one with alloy wheels as the Hub caps can can get scraped very easy and can sometimes come loose

I know about these problems as my mum had a 2015 500 pop untill 2019 and she spent extra money for alloys

actually put my mind at ease, i thought the side bars would be gone but they’re strong, and the bonnet acts as a good crumple zone

I think this car is actually quite safe in a crash but probably is let down by the fact it doesn't have many avoidance systems

I own one got hit by a truck at around 35 mph i walked.

i had a collision in one of these and i must say its a very sturdy car. i was hit by a SUV on the passenger side that was going 50mph and my car destroyed the entire front of the other drivers car. mines had some damage to the passenger side and wheel but didnt come close to my side at all.

Now all they need to do is do a small overlap test like IIHS did with the 500 and 500L. Both did poor

The reason why 3 stars: Seat belts did react to late, rear passenger airbags didnt work like they should, no automatic emergency brake system, pedestrian protection could be better
