What causes a pool pump not to prime?

Most of the time the problem is with the valves. As shown in the video they leak around the lid or the shaft. This is very common. When you dropped the water level it just exposed the problem, and was not the cause.
Fill it up with water and let it run 5-10 minutes.
Then like the video watch the valves closest the the motor as you turn off the pump. Check for water. If any parts of the valve is wet, then that is likely where the leak is. Open it up and look at the orings. You will likely see it immediately, a cut or stretched out oring. If so replace and reassemble. Let us know if that works.

Found your video same problem but this only started after I backwashed too much water got below
Skimmer level. Even after filling still can get it back, even if I use bucket fill
Basket turn on etc . Any suggestions ?
