Red Komodo is an amazing camera and I own it, but it's not a documentary camera which I am learning quickly as I am in mites of shooting one right now. It's frustrating when shoot a run-n-gun vs. Arri Aimra or Usramini because you need quick switch between frame rate, ISO, Built-In ND filters, Kalvins etc, these buttons are available in physical form in these cameras; plus Arri Aimra is just ready to shoot out of the box anytime, you can keep it in the back of your truck and when the situation arises just pull it out and shoot, if you are going to be a professional DOC filmmaker I suggest look into Arri Amira first, it's the Rolls Royse of cameras vs. Red which is Bentley.

I have a gen 1 ursa. The last video camera I shot on was a rebel t2i. It’s a meme, the quality difference and the controls. The very first shot I made with it in prores absolutely blew my mind on the tiny LCD, and even moreso when I brought it into Resolve. First time using resolve as well. Blackmagic has been building images from the ground up since the dawn of digital color grading. I can’t wait to see what they deliver in the future.

I've used the pocket 4K for awhile and now upgrading to the Ursa Broadcast G2 for that 6K Braw and having an Ursa body that works for docs, events and cinema. As well as an Ursa having dual ISO for low light. Down the line I see myself getting the 12K, but for now I need more of a multipurpose camera.

Thanks for the effort ! I don't know if its operator skills or camera weight but the URSA G2 was the most smooth. Same shot / same operator / different camera would have been cool. Not to disgress at all but I can't help but wondering how you can professionaly work with komodo using the phone ? Wifi is so laggy !

Amazing video! Couldn’t agree more. I’m on the fence in the ursa right now and what’s potentially around the corner with BM. I finally got to handle the ursa at Bh nyc this weekend and was blown away. What lense is making those amazing flares??

The Komodo footage was out of focus and not graded correctly haha, but dig these comparisons

Nice video
Following your point about the best camera being the one you have it would be cool to do a comparison video where you put your ursa up against a low budget or old camera you have

I wish the C70 would have been in the mix. Codec, shutter angle, internal raw, 10 stops ND, not 6 stops, xlr on camera not handle, canon color science to name a few.

Red doesn't "own" raw, they made the smart (and infamous) move to get exclusive rights for compressed raw. (But things are probably gonna change now that Nikon won a lawsuit against them for a proprietary compressed raw). Uncompressed raw cannot be owned as it is just literally untouched and unprocessed images from a camera haha. Just fyi
