Saving directions in Google Maps

Don't bother with this video. The most critical feature, "Save to my maps" is no longer available on Google Maps.

This is the easy way to do it. Thanks to Daniel Mitchell below. "The workaround for saving Google Directions is to click the "Link" icon (next to the print icon) and then copy the URL and paste it into a new browser tab. You can then bookmark it and recall it.
" You can make a new folder called "Maps" in your Bookmarks bar folder, then save all your links into that folder. Thus, a folder full of your created and saved maps. As many as you wish...You can open your bookmark manager and rename the individual maps so they show your point to point route name, rather than the coordinates. Voila!

So it looks like the KML link in Google Maps Classic is gone, and it's not available either in Google Maps New. Too bad, because it was a quick and easy way to draw a route and export is as KML into my smartphone.

But what if you don't know your exact destination?.... I want to record my movements while I'm driving so I can send it to somebody so that they can find their way there after I get there how do I do that?

Doesn't work this way today - at least not on my computer with Chrome. What does work, however, is something deceptively simple: bookmark the URL after you've laid out a route.

This is a mess but...FIXED:  you must sign into google and My Maps first, then look up directions.  You can't do save a map if you're not already in My Maps first!

there is no save to my maps link when using public transportation that i can find.

They removed this feature so that you have to get a "currently calculated" route each time you get directions. Google is annoying.

Used this extensively over the years but Classic maps no longer has the 'Save to my maps' option. I can't get to grips with the new google maps for routing. Anyone know a way to get the old function back for Classic Maps?
