Because no sane individual would die for a government unless they believed this wasn't their only life.

The earlier cultures would have struggled to find an openly atheist person.

Seems ironic considering the CIA might be the most corrupt clown show to ever exist.

its easier to convince someone to die for your cause if they think there's more life after death.

They are willing to fight to the death for something that they feel is bigger than them, even if they're being deceived.

I'm an atheist, but I can definitely see why having faith in the kinds of situations they are put in is very useful to keep themselves sane

Qualities they were looking for;

- Ability to believe something if told enough times.
- Belief that there’s an afterlife.
- Belief that if you die, it’s God’s plan.

I’d do the same thing if I wanted to use disposable pawns.

When all else is gone, you have to have something to pull strength from! 💪

When you know you have a strong chance of dying in battle, it's best to believe in an afterlife. A better place when you die. That's the mentality that keeps warriors from cowering to an enemy

Here in the US we like to mix church and state but say we don’t

Its true. Im not american, but in my millitary you where forced to go to church at several points. We had a few Sikh men and they could avoid church, apart from that it was part of the training. We even had a station church and millitary clergy who ran the place. They where the people you went to with problems, really helpful. And ive personally seen them turn a man full of fear back into a weapon after a particularly bad op. Im not religious, but they definitely do try. "Qui audet adipiscitur".

Makes sense. Have to have some sense of delusion to keep you sane in the heat of the battle.
