Why did Audi launch an F1 car if they're an engine supplier?

BIG news was released today that Audi intends to join F1 in 2026... but there's a bit of confusion as to how involved they are actually going to be...

I'm always going to be a huge Ferrari fan but Audi has meant so much to me since I was a kid with my family taking them to the track and watching them win Le Mans so I'm definitely excited. I'm also a bit outraged however that everyone is turning a cold shoulder to Andretti when they say we need more teams

They stated at the press conference today, that they are joining as a F1 team and not just a supplier. They were even asked the question why they chose that road and confirmed that they are going in as a team with drivers, car etc.

They already said that they bought 75% of the sauber partnership, so alfa romeo will be leaving and audi will replace it

It's a great livery that will be disgusting when overloaded with unrelated sponsors. (I know sponsors are they way of things, but a clean livery is so good looking)
