2, 000 deaths for a single sunken ship, gives you perspective on how disastereus this war was.

Interesting how a strategically deployed battle ready submarine gets an edge and takes down the opposition with ease.

Never knew one submarine could do so much damage in such a short time.

Ramage was awarded the MOH for that patrol. The boat I served on during the Vietnam era, was the BANG, ss385, commanded then by Anton Gallagher. Parche, ss384, was commanded by Ramage. Both were classmates at the Academy. They were on each other's 1st war patrol in early 1944. Gallagher's Bang sank four ships and was awarded the Navy Cross. Ramage good heartedly said, "I can do better, " I guess he did. Gallagher was awarded four Navy Crosses during the war.

Think about what would have happened if those 2400 troopers made it to wherever they are going. Considering that each one of those soldiers would probably fight to their death...

It was apparently much easier to score against the Japaneses in the Pacific than against the British in the Atlantic.

14 hits out of 19 torpedoes fired, which was very impressive for a WW2 submarine.
