The CHILLING LIFE of German soldiers inside a WWII SUBMARINE

During World War II, one of the most terrifying experiences for the Allies was sailing across the Atlantic. Beneath the seemingly calm waters of the ocean lurked the fearsome German submarines, always ready to hunt down enemy ships. In this way, a ship that was too confident and did not take precautions could find that, from one moment to the next, a torpedo hit its hull, causing irreparable damage and causing it to sink.

I think you will find that U-Boats were crewed by sailors.

There is a book called U-Boat War by Lothar Gunther Buchhen.Who was a lieutenant in the German Navy.He was ordered aboard a German sub to record for propaganda for the navy. He took some 200 pictures of everyday life aboard the boats Published by Alfred A Knopf of NY

In todays effort to call people by the proper pronouns this persons language is certainly not correct nautically. Sailors serve on submarines not soldiers. The toilet is called the head. The bedrooms are called berthing areas and they were in the forward and aft torpedo rooms, chiefs and officers in the wardroom area and the after battery area for the rest of the crew. Those bunk beds he mentioned are called sacks (as in hit the sack) or just plain bunks. All of them are called Submariners. The Submarines are called boats by the Submariners and any ships that float on the top of the water are called skimmers or better yet TARGETS! My wife hates to watch submarine movies with me because I correct them just like I am correcting the narrator of this story. Subma REENERS are people who ride submarines. A sub mariner is a person that is under a mariner. Pronunciation counts.

I imagine it must have been a very dangerous job and the death rate quite high.

Soldiers are *NOT* in the navy.
Soldiers are in the army.
Sailors are in the navy.
And
On fast attack submarines, there is not limit to how long a crew can be submerged at sea.
I've been out for much longer than 3 months at a time before.

The German's didn't build 1000 u boats as you stated.
Dornitz insisted after ww2 that if he had 300 u boats during the war he might have won the battle if the Atlantic

This is basis research.

The type 21 Uboat would be far more comfortable

Sorry to say, but this is a very poor quality production. It has poor narration and inaccurate research on its supposed facts.

The maximum duration of a sub patrol was 90 days I believe due to the provisions and fuel consumption.

Pretty sure the German subs had sailors, not soldiers! Have to wonder what you really know.

Bedrooms, bathrooms, bunk beds…
Very oddly written, narrated by a bot.
