CHEAPER THAN AN UBER! Manhattan to JFK with BLADE Helicopter!

I flew from Manhattan to JFK Airport in New York onboard a BLADE Helicopter, the Uber of the skies! It worked out cheaper than an Uber Black and took just 7 minutes, compared to the 90 minutes in rush hour traffic an Uber would have taken.

If only they had an arrangement with TSA. Going through security at the helipad or private security when you land would make it totally worth it!

I doubt you look at comments on videos from 2019, but PanAm used to operate helicopter service from the roof of their NYC building to the NYC area airports. It was complimentary if you had a First or Clipper (Business) class ticket but you could book it/pay extra as part of an Economy ticket. I flew it between NYC & JFK and between JFK & LGA.

Just take the Long Island Railroad from Penn Station in Manhattan to Jamaica Station and then take the JFK Airtrain to your terminal. You can do this for $15 or less depending on the time of day. There are only 2-3 stops between Penn Station and Jamaica Station near Kennedy Airport, and the transfer to the Airtrain is easy.

Everyone should try this at least once. I did it a few months back and for $200 bucks you get a quick ride to the airport, a mini tour of one of the best skylines in the world and the transportation to the airport after you land is better now than a few years ago. We got a ride to the airport in a Maybach SUV. It was such an amazing experience.

Ok as a one off/experience but expensive for the average person. You can get to JFK from Manhattan much cheaper & the flight time doesn’t take into account travelling to the heliport, waiting, getting on/off, getting to departure terminal.

Just booked and used your promo code mate :)

Only issue is you are charged per person. so around usd195 per person isn't a cheap ride if there are 2 of you. Still totally cool tho!

That was a beautiful landing before you boarded. Very skilled pilot.

Fun for sure, I did a helicopter flight in 2004 around NYC. Was great, one of those 100 things to do before you die sort of thing.

The limit to one carry on bag and personal item though is a killer. OK for long weekend travellers I guess that don't want to mess around.

No checked baggage possible! :( That's a huge drawback! This is basically for business travelers only, the ones going out for a few days max! Plus.. it's per person which means it can go to 400-600 USD per one way if you're a group of 2-3! so.. it's on a single scenario basis!

I think it's a pretty good deal since it costs $350-$400 for a short helicopter tour of NYC. It's a shame it's only $200 for JFK though, It's $2000 for LaGaurdia which is the airport my flight to NYC is using 😭

If you’re living/staying close to these heliport locations and of course you can afford it, it’s a no brainer to use this option.

This only works if you are starting near one of the heliports. The local media did a comparison where they had different people all start at the same point in Manhattan and head to jfk using various modes of transportation. The people who used Blade arrived like 2 to 3 minutes before the person who took the subway (which only costs several dollars). This combined with the limit on baggage makes it hard to justify this.

Noel next time your in NYC you should go on a helicopter flight with FlyNyon open helicopter trip over nyc you wear a harness and can sit on the side of the helicopter with your feet out over the side its incredible! I did it couple of years ago and the experience is something i will never forget.

TERRIBLE. Blade canceled our helicopter flight on 2 hours notice leaving us with the option to take one of their SUV’s for $200+ or book an uber for $100. I booked an Uber and Blade did not refund me, instead issuing a credit for future use (within 1 year) even though I told them I won’t be back in NYC within that timeframe. So they got $450 and I got nothing, apparently because my girlfriend didn’t buy cancellation insurance! So if you want the 5 min. helicopter ride, be prepared to spend $450 + the cost of insurance, so that’s about $250 a person when an Uber is $50/person. I will go with the latter in the future. Shame on Blade for having no empathy and keeping my money knowing I’ll not be able to use my credit.

When the trip to the airport costs more than the flight itself😂
