Do It Yourself European Mount - Do It Yourself Skull Mount - how to clean a deer skull

There are so many videos out there that go over this process and they are all super long. here is a #shorts version to give you the simplified basic of going over how to clean a deer skull.

There are multiple to do this: people bury the heads, people remove nose pieces, people spray the heads with a pressure washer (which can result in color loss to the antlers and blow out the teeth), etc. I don't do any of that. I keep it simple and easy. Here is my version of how to clean a deer skull.

1. skin the hide off
2. boil it down for more than a few hours, or until the tissue is off (feel free to wrap the antlers with plastic wrap and electrical tape). Don't boil too hard or the nose piece might fall off
3. peel off the rest of the tissue and spray it down, sometimes the sprayer makes this process easy
4. I like to get rid of the greasiness with dish soap and warm water
5. Get the cream peroxide developer on it. Paint it on with small toothbrush and DO NOT GET ON ANTLER. I also like to keep the teeth natural, I think its cool
6. wash off peroxide developer after a few hours of sitting on the skull
7. let it dry and you are done.

This is a fun, inexpensive way to commemorate a great hunt. Enjoy

Use a high power pressure washer to wash the bone tissue or skin and meat. and then boil it after the wash then it will come out really nice and white

Another option for degrease I have found to work is dishwasher gel in the boiling water

Don't you need to seal them? My Dad buried the last buck head he got before he passed away. We dug it up and it's amazing, I don't want to bleach or whiten the skull. My Uncle told me to varnish it but I don't want it to look wet or shinny either. Someone help a daughter out. I don't have my Dad to ask all my crazy questions anymore.

Little tip if you pull those nose bones out it makes it a lil easier and they slide right back in!

I boiled it and picked most off, but left it out and never finished. Some small chunks hardened, is it too late?

Got a question I did a European mount with a dead head and after 3 hours there was still meet on it after pressure washing is it because it was a deadhead and everything fused to the bone or is it because I didn't do somthing right

Wrong way to do it boiling damages bone and locks grease into the skull. Search up maceration of skull and degreasing,
