What I see behind you is the fact that the upper middle class has been totally inconvenienced by the hurricane. Their hugely-expensive toys are so much detritus at this point. I also see little to no reporting on how this hurricane has affected *every-day people in Lee County*. Wealth-hoarders with their "tax-avoidance strategies" can always buy a new boat. People who must work for a living their entire lives who have now been wiped out have no such recourse.

Many residents of Ft. Myers earn only 26, 000 per year. The sad thing for many residents is that insurance in Florida is not effectively overseen, despite much public concern and attempts at advocacy. While Gov. DiSantis is happy to have FEMA, while attacking this a s "socialist" he is unwilling to insure that Floridians have insurance when it is most needed, and that there is meaningful affordable insurance for all property owners in the state of Florida. The 12 million he spends on political stunts would likely have been very useful to struggling residents facing this disaster. The real work of governing is not making myriad appearances on TV, pulling stunts, or "owning" another political party. It is the quiet work of providing needed oversight that looks out for citizens of the state.

I have a flight with American Airlines on October 10th to travel to Fort Myers and I called them and they're acting as if nothing is wrong and it seems like they won't be giving refunds for flights but yet the city is 90% destroyed, its destroyed and its not safe there. Thank god my friends house is ok but what are people to do with future flights?!
