Lee Kuan Yew saw that there are phases in a person’s life which in turn have impact on his health.

Smokers will tell you that it is not easy to stop smoking. However, Lee Kuan Yew approached this with his characteristic determination.

1976 was another turning point health-wise where Lee Kuan Yew switched from golf to running with his characteristic determination and discipline.

Moving forward, Lee Kuan Yew advised us to acquire (health-related) knowledge and craft a bespoke health program for ourselves to maximize what we have.

Lee Kuan Yew also narrated his experience, in 1996 at 73, with a heart issues (blocked arteries), angioplasty, and stent placement with clarity and humor.

Lee Kuan Yew was also an advocate of lifelong learning (including on health matters) which will help you live longer.

Finally, Lee Kuan Yew recounted his experience with peripheral neuropathy and advised us to avoid sedentary lives, keep ourselves interested and challenged, to avoid isolation, and have a purpose in life.

Lee Kuan Yew (16 September 1923 – 23 March 2015), born Harry Lee Kuan Yew, often referred to by his initials LKY, was a Singaporean lawyer, politician and statesman who served as the inaugural Prime Minister of Singapore between 1959 and 1990, and Secretary-General of the People's Action Party between 1954 and 1992. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency of Tanjong Pagar from 1955 until his death in 2015. Lee is widely recognized as the founding father of Singapore. Lee was born in Singapore during British colonial rule. After World War II ended, Lee attended the London School of Economics briefly before transferring to Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge to study law, graduating in 1947. He was called to the Bar from the Middle Temple in 1950. Upon his return to Singapore, he practiced as an advocate and solicitor whilst campaigning for the British to relinquish their colonial rule. He is the founding Prime Minister of Singapore.
