Oh, you're a life saver.. I was able to salvage my switch after solder had dripped down, the flip trick saved me!

Most quality Cloth Pushback wire is pre-tinned. By looking at that wire, it looks pre-tinned. I still add more to mine also, but it is not necessary. Great video.

For over soldering, try some desoldering braid, it will suck up the excess solder but not so much that your connections go loose.

Question? Would it be of benefit to pre-tin the contacts of the switch before the switch is installed?

Do not wipe the iron tip on the sponge and then put the iron in the holder, now your tip is not protected and the tip is oxidising, the solder protects your tip while its sitting in the holder, only wipe your tip when you are ready to solder.
