I am only now just realizing the evil granny's intent. I thought Gary was just creeped out by the snail shells and wanted to run away. It's even darker when you remember that the granny took the green snail at the end of the episode.

I think one of the darkest moments of the show is when Spongebob accidentally ripps off Squidward's nail while he was trying to move the couch.

The psychological stuff in some episodes really gets to me every time. Like squidwards "suicide thoughts", spongebob's nightmare, mr's puff becoming insane or the bubblegum that became sentient. That's just pure horror.

Plankton laying down in the middle of the road, waiting for someone to run him over. Then when spongebob went to ask him "What are you doing?" Plankton told him then just said "Actually can you step on me" Spongebob denies and plankton just says "Never mind, I'll wait for the next bus."

Or when Mr. krabs sold spongebob for 60 something cents. Infact Mr. Krabs just paying spongebob fake money and spongebob just smiles because he loves his job, mr. krabs is taking advantage of the poor sponge.
