Back in '62 this record was what I wanted for Christmas more than anything. The other teens would go play it on the jukebox at the diner after school and I knew I just had to have it to get Gladys McShefferey to like me after I saw her dancing to it with her boyfriend. I knew the only thing that could pry Gladys away from her man was the Sticky Sweethearts singing about glue again and the good old liquid gold voice of Vernon Green Jr. Suffice to say, I got the record for Christmas, played it out my window as Gladys walked by, and she's been mine ever since. Now our grandkids found this song online after we thought everyone had forgotten it and we're crying happy tears as we try to get my grandson unglued from his keyboard.

It's amazing how fast we went to Christmas. Seems like Halloween was just yesterday.

I remember when this song was released back in 65. Back then, everyone thought The Sticky Sweethearts were a one hit wonder, only being able to make one song stick. They proved their lasting power quickly with this song though. I’ve been stuck on them since. I also remember the move this song coined, the glue. That Christmas season, every man woman and child were covering themselves in glue getting stuck in chimneys. Oh to go back to better times.

This takes me back to Christmas ‘89… We were all huddled around the radio, waiting for this absolute classic to play on Christmas Craze at midnight. My cousin dared me to cover myself in glue, just like in the song, and slide down the chimney as a 'festive surprise.' Long story short, I got stuck halfway, and my dad spent half the night trying to pull me out with a broom while the whole family laughed. Never quite got all the glue out of my hair after that... classic holiday memories!
