Tell you one thing about Japan. The people think in a unique way. Don't try and understand them with western motivation. It's a truly unique culture.

Japanese here who owns property. I had mine fixed at three years and now variable. Most banks don't even consider "selling" full term fixed and Japanese are so used to variable rates that the entire real estate economy is depended on low rates. The government doesn't have guts raising rates beyond a certain point. It will be a nothing burger.

Wow, this is one of the best summaries of what is happening in Japan, well informed!

Andrei, you have a talent for explaining complicated things in simple fashion. I have not missed a video of yours for more than a year. Good job and thank you for all the content you are creating.

Very insightful, I had no idea Japan owned US bonds more than China. Also, when you say "I won't get more into it", it be really interesting if you had a video substack where you *did* get into it.

Man I wash I can tell a complex story as clear and logic as you. Kudos!

Just a note about the bank in Iowa going bust - the video I saw said it was a totally different reason to the SVB bond purchases - it was the result of bad loans to trucking companies which might also be a sign that supply side inflation is weakening.

Every US politician and mega rich have an escape plan, second passport, and overseas bank account and properties. The idea that you can run that much of debt and get out of it alive has never happened.

Wait wait wait. Time out. Did I just hear you right. You got a variable rate loan?

Informative video! Though just a heads up - the term "Abenomics" is pronounced as "ah-beh-nomics, " with the first syllable sounding like the "a" in "father. It’s named after Shinzo Abe, who served as the Prime Minister of Japan. He was known for his economic policies aimed at reviving the Japanese economy (popularly referred to as "Abenomics.")

Good for them a negative interest rate is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard of. They must’ve been smoking when they came up with that.

Yes, thank you so much for posting! Very nice explanation for a complex subject. I think you really shine here. As you become more educated on all this, you can explain it better, adding substance to your videos. Thank you thank you!
Nobody said you had to create some course or whatever (I'm still not a course member of Kevin 😏).
I believe in you Andrei! 😍
I hope you learn to hope for and believe in you too!

@8:15 the Fed doesn’t have to manually increase interest rates in order to incentivize people to buy treasury bonds. That is done by bond market when they decide to sell off before maturity.
